1996 vfr750

Today, I want this VFR750 -- I pick it up on Sunday! I'd love to have a VFR400, as I like light, fun bikes, but they never imported them. This particular bike, I'm buying from a friend, who gave me a too-good-to-refuse price on it. It rides a lot lighter than it is. I'm he'll be getting right-of-first-refusal, should I sell it later.

The '94-'97 VFR750 is arguably the best of the VFR's. Sure, I'd like if it had fuel injection like the VFR800 that followed, but don't want or need the complexity and extra weight of the Vtec (variable valve timing) system.

Honda CB1

I think the CB1, with it's high-reving 400cc 4 cylinder, and light weight would be a very fun bike. If a nice one ever comes up for sale near me, I'm gonna buy it (so long as the price isn't outrageous). As I said in the above post (VFR), I like light, good handling bikes. This fits the bill nicely. I have a lot of fun on my '90 VTR250, and the CB1 makes almost twice the power, and isn't much heavier.

Honda CB600F Hornet

Although I'd be happy with the 60 HP of the CB1, the 600cc Hornets are a little more plentiful. They don't really weigh any more than the CB1, so it fits my desire for a light bike. With 98 HP on tap, I won't need to twist the wick the whole way open to have fun -- but just might sometimes anyway, just because .

Sadly, Honda stopped importing these to the US a few years ago, but the ones that are hear are still young enough that I should be able to find a decent one used.

Since you like fun, light weight bikes you should check out a Triumph Street Triple.

It's already on my short list. Preowned ones are still priced quite high, and I don't (yet) have the cash for a new one.

See my posted #1834.

It's on my short list, too. Test rode one an absolutely loved it.

Big fenders would be great for touring.

2012 Honda NC700

Yeah...I'm thinking it's this now, the Honda NC700.
Makes sense for me on many levels.....the two main ones being efficiency and suspension travel.
Sounds like the perfect commuter and I'm believing it. Umm also expect to see a redesign/ work around for the under-seat fuel fill (like bmw on side). That's prime milk crate mounting supplemental storage space right there!

After several thousand miles on my late model BMW, I just want something that sounds cool...maybe a Ducati or a VFR or even an inline 4 that screams when you rev it to redline.

I feel you. I like the new R bikes, but they sound worse the harder you rev them.
That's something I find viscerally offensive.
