No more air cooled high power jap bikes like these, they don't pass
various emissions laws.

ZXR1200, XJR1300, GSX1400.. all gone..

CB1300 is probably still available.. somewhere.

ZRX1200, liquid cooled and still available in some parts of the world.

Yeah, that's true, but it's not the same bike as before.

Before what? I had a '99 ZRX1100. It was liquid cooled and the predecessor to the current model.

The 1200 in production now is different to the one the rest of the world
got up to about 2006. At least here in EU.

Yeah, I know . What bike ? I can't choose so why try.
I'll take the entire lineup of Ducati Superbikes from the 851 all the way to the 1199. Oh and a big climate controled building to keep them in between rides.
Pic from the Indy Moto GP Ducati Island.

I'll tell you what. I really wouldn't want to give up my current bike, but I wish I had held out for the '13 models from HD. Nearly all of them have some sort of metalflake paint available now.

Yep me too. I had a R1100RS and they just want to gobble miles. Got one once again on my short list.

I am looking for an upright seating position with my feet below me, not behind me or in front of me. Decent passenger accomodations would be nice as well. A used bike is in my budget.
Here are some bikes with more upright/standard ergos. Just to name a few:

Moto Guzzi V7 (great retro styling)
Moto Guzzi Breva 750
Moto Guzzi Breva 1100
Duc Monster 696 (more standard ergos than you'd think)
Wee Strom
Suzuki SV650
Versys
Kawasaki ER6N
Kawasaki Ninja 650
Honda CBR250R (again, more standard ergos than you'd think)
Honda NC700X
Honda Hornet CB599F aka CB600F
Honda Hornet CB919F
Honda VFR750 or VFR800 (yes, again, more standard than you'd think -- pegs relative to the seat are similar to the Guzzi V7)
Yamaha FZ6 Fazer
