And your problem with that is? I figure it's my $15K I'll be spending, no skin off your wallet is there?

It's a forum and that's what people do.

Some people are ignorant and don't know that they're not getting their
value for $15k going that direction. When you do know it, and still do it,
it's even worse and be prepared for people pointing that out here.

Motorcycles are my hobby, not my business. I don't see them as an investment. So I judge them by my own standards. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

A vintage pushrod engine is interesting because it's old. A modern one is something of an anachronism and is of no interest to me for that reason.

While it may have no "real" connection with the original it sure looks the part and is the exact modern "classic" I want the new Bonneville to be. Kind'a fell in like with the one I saw at the motorcycle show! I'd have to take a serious look if they ever do actually make it here. $15k may be high but what do expect from a small custom maker? It's only money anyway, What is a big smile worth??? As for push rods, who cares as long as it works for the application? Chevy and harley seem to do alright with them?

A Thruxton with a bikini fairing gets you 95% of the way there:

For a little more than half the price and similar power.

$55k?!? How much for one with a muffler?!? It will be interesting to see if Pierre Terblanche can make it even less attractive?!

How about the combat version?

I like this one. Cool styling (tho not a fan of the seat). 172.2 mph on the salt flats and claimed 200mph on asphalt...not that I'd ever have the guts to ride it that fast, oh well

Today, its:

Saw one in person today at Touring Sport BMW. Handsome. Almost handsome enough to make me want one *before* the RT shows up with the LC engine.

the new Yamaha Star Bolt...

What a shame it took Yamaha to make a real sportster again.

And what a shame I just bought a bike...

Sorry; Clip-ons, rearsets, 100+ extra pounds, cheap suspension and 10+ less HP? No thanks! even at half the price.
