The caption with that XS650 reads "Distinctly Styled" but looks looks very much like an RD350 from the same era. Is the point of posting that scan from a brochure your way of saying that's the bike you want today? Kinda sad.

I think when Yamaha said "distinctly Styled" they felt it could be applied to any of their bikes. The RD 350 & XS 650 are both good (IMO) looking bikes. I like the styling of the RD better but, only because it reminds me (just a bit) of my old GT 380. (sorry no photo, my psycho ex wife destroyed the only two pix I had of it cuz there were girls in the photos)

Did you see how they were riding it?
70-90mph bouncing off the limiter all the time. You can see that in the 1000ps video. MCN somewhat too.

After 40+ years of riding, I've come to the conclusion that 750 cc is my personal sweet spot. That given, my choice is pretty limited these days, & comes down to the evergreen GSX-R 750. I'd love to get one in classic blue & white. I think that some bar risers (or maybe Heli bars), a new seat, peg lowering, & some sort of small luggage rack in the rear. (That may have to be custom fabbed) would largely solve the ergo problems & give me a real sport-tourer.
