Looks and specs out much like a VFR to me, save the way cooler motor and larger fuel tank of the Honda. In SoCal at least, one can pick up a clean, low mileage VFR800 for about 40% of what that Beemer costs, AND it's a Honda. Made 'em in white as well.

Both are nice bikes to be sure. I'd trust the Honda more.

I'm sitting on my hands until I see what the Yamaha 850 triple ends up in next year. The GT is a much more well-thought out bike than the outgoing ST though, IMO.

The 2014 vstrom is a redesigned engine, so I don't think the old problems will apply, unless you just want to be bitter about it. There is no chance in hell they're using the same ECU.

Maybe a K1300GT in white exists, somewhere, but it is still a bit too heavy for me - not to mention nearly twice the price of a N1K.

Not sure why, but I've always wanted to own a fatty with apes. I know people hate them, you can't turn at slow speed well (or at all), hand can go numb if the bars are too high.

In BC your hand cannot be higher than your shoulders on a bike with apes.
You get a VI (vehicle inspection) and your bike impounded for non compliance. (Towed to a shop for repairs)
