You can find nice examples out there if you patiently search, I'm going to look at an '11 with 2100 miles tomorrow.

really wouldn't mind riding off into the sunset and taking fry cook jobs for food and gas money, sleeping under the stars, and not caring about anything else for a while.

This reminds me of a comment Dave Edwards made about the BMW K1200R. He said it looked like someone rode a magnet thru a junkyard.

You're right. I'd ride one . I'd get in trouble though. The thing just begs to jump curbs etc. I envision something like that chase scene with the Mini Cooper in the Bourne Indentity

Really feeling the light sport tourers. Must be the weather.

That CB500R looks pretty sweet too, though I think I'd want plain white without the colored decals. The luggage looks perfect.

I just put about 40 minutes of effort to dress myself fully, remove the topcase, unpack the bike from the cover, remove the disclock, go grab some cash and after about 500 meters on the road I turn around and went back home.

I got bored, and that happens a lot.
This was a 3 minute ride.

The problem is the "good stuff" is 30-35 miles away and I can't be bothered
to ride all the way to that every time, and being on a naked bike that means
60-65mph is comfortable and then I gotta have the whole freaking day to
take a ride.

SO.

I should either get rid of the FZ6 and ride only local roads, and be mainly a
city hooligan, for which I need this:

OR

Get on the freeway, hit 120mph, and get to the "good stuff" in a few minutes, but then I'd need the hooligan bike again.

The "get to good stuff bike" is likely this:

I've never ridden a buell but if I can read a spec sheet well, I can feel
your pain - I've got a bike with a 10.000 rev torque peak!

No pics but I did spot a 98 Ducati ST2 with 26,000 on the clock and an asking price of $3500... What say you the collective?

Got a guy "Ducati guy" near by?
If yes - go for it.
