Yeah F that. If I wanted "character" I'd hang out with my family.

I want a good looking, reliable, bedroom wall poster of a motorcycle. Something like this with a different exhaust.

This is what I was worrying about a few pages back. The 990 was so good, they should be able to improve on it. Yet new bikes often seem like a step back, rather then a step forward. (X-Challenge to the Sertao? 640ADV to the fuel-pump-problem-laden 690? Dare I say Can-Bus?). I worry that we have hit the high water mark for ADV bikes. At this point improvements in bikes brings too much complication. At least in the euro bikes. Maybe Yamaha will come out with a 500 twin Tenere that will blow us all out of the water.

Didn't the 990 have a self destructing water pump issue?

i rode one, it was definitely an improvement. Perfect fueling and nice mid to top end blast. KTMs are rugged and take serious abuse so i wouldn't worry much about it. But it's a big machine and i am more into compact bikes these days so if i hit lotto i would go with a multi in that group or another 690

Yeah, I think they may have had fuel pump issues too? Not sure. But what I'm saying is the Adventure line came out in what, 2003? They updated it in '06 to the 990. That's 8 years of R&D (or perhaps 11 depending on how much you trace the lineage back to the 950?) on an already awfully good bike, with a few faults and quirks. This bike should be the 990, but with all the problems fixed. Instead it's an all new bike with all new problems. Problems that are getting harder and harder to fix on the side of a remote road somewhere in Morocco or Medellin.

I'm reading JDowns Super Sherpa RR, and just got past the part where they built a whole new front end for the bike. I'm starting to think the Sherpa might be the best ADV bike ever built!

The Hyper is. My 53 YO friend bought a new one last year. The dealer loaned him a Diavel during his first service and he traded for it a couple of days later. He had me try both and I'm now selling three of my bikes to pay for my Diavel.
It's a great alternative for us older guys.

Still have my deposit down for a 1290 Super Duke to go alongside my 500 EXC.
I test rode a Diavel a couple of years ago. Wonderful engine, but I dragged some hard parts on the test ride! Also even with the tall seat the bike was uncomfortable for my 35 inch inseam legs.

don't know where you are, but Sloan's Honda in Murfreesboro TN has a lightly used NC700X on the showroom floor.

Today the Z still wins out, but I'd much prefer this white color.

Well my Fiance is looking for a motorcycle but she may take mine if I find a speed triple 955i in our price range before she finds something else. Anyone selling?

Should be easy to find at a good price. Awesome bikes, I had a good friend that had three T309's, one runner and two parts bikes!

Try: Search Tempest

I've been haunting search tempest over the past few days

I've found a couple but most in my price range have some sort of damage/salvage title. And I'm still a little iffy about it because I'm not sure about reliability, all I've owned have been Japanese bikes

I haven't heard specific issues with reliability on those bikes. Generally as long as it's been taken care of it should be good. I would stay away from Salvage/rebuilt titles though. You may have problems finding a company that will insure it for you.

Still want my Erzberg, and I want to do this with it:
