Amazing how ya'll here rave about how sportys are the only harleys that handle and are set up like standards then go gaga over a red metalflake 21" front sporty with forwards, solo, apes, peanut tank and whitewalls.
Never got chopping/cruiserizing a sporty??????

I like it from an Americana perspective... not an "I want to own that" perspective.

Bingo. It just looks cool. And if I had one it would probably be sitting in my home office for me to look at. No desire to ride it.

Been having a high school flashback when I was insanely in love with a couple Italian mistresses...

and the bike that started it all for me, in a later more lustful iteration (thanks to my friend who let me ride it)

And the insurance different isn't even that bad...

Desert

I really want one of these for the minimalist aspect and the desert look. Test drove one on Friday. 27 HP isn't really exciting but that's part of it. I think you can make some mods and squeeze 30 HP out of it!

Just because the 72 isn't for me doesn't mean I can't honestly look at it for what it is and say "nice bike!"
People who can't do that are generally dicks who think there's only one beer I should drink, one bike I should ride, or one brand of clothing I should wear. I try to not be a dick.

And, the world of motorcycling is a lot more fun when you lighten up and kiss off all these dumb "rules" that seem to crop up around brand loyalty and riding style in this hobby.

I like what I want and I ride what I can afford. I don't need anyone's permission or forgiveness for that.

Nice reply. Just because Harleys use stone age technology and are mostly ridden by doo-rag wearing cavemen doesn't mean that we can't appreciate one that is done up properly!!!

Today, I want a 1200 roadster.

Mid controls. Good brakes. Torquey engine. Looks great. Gets decent mileage. Can be bought for a fair price and in unmolested condition still. I'd fit some leather city bags and a flyscreen and commute on it, grinning like a mule eating briars the whole time probably.
