Today I want a blue 09 Versys with less than 500 miles for $4000 bucks. I think I'll go get it.

I want a FJR 1300A 2012.

Looking to sell my GS 1200 2011 to get into the ST category. Looking for more comfort and smoothness in long rides.

Just happened to pass a Yamaha dealership today and noticed the Yamaha demo ride tractor-trailer set up out front so I turned around for a look. No sales pressure at all but they did talk me into signing up for a demo and even loaned me a helmet off the dealer's shelf since I didn't plan it and didn't have my gear with me. Of course you know how these short test rides are... not nearly long enough to really get a feel for a bike. At least not for me, but it is fun and much better than the old days when test rides where almost impossible to get on bikes....

Anyway, I test rode one of these today:

It was ok and I'm sure that it's a fine bike but my R1150GS doesn't have anything to worry about for the time being.

So then, they offered me another ride and I took them up on it in order to sample what I had really wanted to ride the first time around if it hadn't already been spoken for by another rider:

Again, didn't really get to put it through it's paces, but it was much more interesting than the Super Tenere to me. It had a good blend of sportiness and comfort. It felt agile and tight without the extreme position of the repli-racer types. I also like the styling.... interesting but not overdone like some I've seen recently. In fact, if spending my money on a new bike, especially of Japanese origin, this would be on my short list of "sporty" bikes...

Of course this is just today, or at least right this moment today... Last night I spent some time looking at cheap, low mileage used Versys, and ZRX1200Rs, and Buells, and...

In fact, after my test rides, I went inside and found a used Versys in the dealers back room. First time I've actually had a chance to look at one up close and sit on it. No doubt that compared to what I had just ridden, it is a budget oriented and plain machine, but I've seen several low mileage examples listed at around $3500. Would like to take a spin on one to see how they feel in the real world, but they are definitely within my "impulse purchase" budget if I like them and I find the right deal...

Then this past Saturday I was at an Aprilia/Moto Guzzi/ MV Agusta dealer ogling some of his wares... Saw several new and used bike in there that could have followed me home if funds allowed...

Really digging the MG V7's, if only they could build one that made 60+ hp... I don't need 100 hp to have fun but I'm just not sure that the 39-44 rwhp (depending what you read) would keep me interested on a street only bike... might change my mind if I rode one but that isn't likely to happen anytime soon...

Oh and did I mention emailing the guy about the cheap TW200?

So, yeah, I got it bad... and I'm all over the place... I mean, hell, I hate cruisers and I still glanced at a used Sportster on the dealer floor as I left...

I could probably make an entry into this thread at least once a day...

That's one of those, "if you have to ask..." questions....

Yet we know they won't, and even why.

I personally like it, even stylistically.

I got to try one of these at a track day last week. The closest comparison I can think of is when they hit Hyperspace in Star Wars!?! But with the traction, control, wheelie control, and ABS, it was never too scary. If they made one with upright bars, I would really be tempted!

It is a 250, so, it is hard to say how well it would do -- small bikes don't sell as well here has in other parts of the world. Maybe if gas went up to $8/gal, they'd be in more demand. I like small displacement bikes, and would love to have one. It looks like a mini Ducati.

Most mfgs, seem to think all the Americans want are cruisers and sport bikes (and sport bike looking bikes). Hence, we get the CBR250R instead of the VTR250. That said, I've ridden the CBR250R, and it is a great bike -- VERY smooth for a thumper (that's because it is counter balanced) -- but I still like 90 degree V-twins better (three of my bikes are 90-degree V-twins).
