Remembering the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 "by hack"
this isn't a political forum... nor do i want to make it one
in 6 days it'll be the 10th anniversary of a very sad day here's what I am going to do in remembrance 1. ![]() ... not the safest helmet... i know, but just making a statement 2. ![]() http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=11239 in the 30" length 3. ![]() http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=10483 in the 16" x 24" size again..... not being political i am WELL-AWARE that no everyone around here is from the US however, i'm hoping that everyone here will try to remember those who lost their lives on that fateful day thanks for taking the time to look and perhaps comment the very best to all of you

I grew up in joyzee,
I could see the towers and the empire state building from my bed room window, I watched them go up. My oldest brother who has lived in Manhattan since the 70's, his apartment and business is a half mile from where they stood. When I was in the Coast Guard, my first duty station was Governors Island, my room faced the city and I could see the towers lying in my bed. I often caught the Path train there, ate there, did last minute holiday shopping there. Lots of memories. I still feel the loss. Thank you for remembering.

I am going to honor a TSgt who works for me, he retires Friday!
He was present for duty, and injured when the plane hit the pentagon, he has cronic lung damage, and burns on his body, Somehow he never got a purple heart. I am working the paper work through, but it will not make it in time for his retirement. He has at least 2 two star generals coming in town for his retirement on Sep 9 '11 He is a hero to me. Even while injured, he still participated in the recovery and protection of classified, that was just laying around.

Thank you from a Soldier
I want to say "thank you" to those of you who continue to support folks like me who are still on active duty. I have always said that it takes the whole nation together - not just military personnel and their equipment. The tributes and honor provided here - as well as elsewhere - are humbling. I serve because I feel compelled and for the opportunity to work and the chance to associate with genuine professionals of similar motivation. There is no doubt that this professionalism and opportunity is common on this forum.
Thank you. We will never forget. Jonathan

To my Brothers-in-Arms
Thank you my brothers.
Christopher Splinter. My first boss, you taught me to give a little bit extra. You gave all. Eric Paliwoda. My comrade. Your enthusiasm remains inspiring. Eric Allton. My XO, you made every day a great day. No doubt you lead me today. I have followed you, stood alongside you, and led you. Rest in peace now brothers. Your job is done and done well. This day does not define you. You define this day. We will never forget. - Jonathan

MORE COWBELL!!!

I spent September 11th, 2011 on the hack as well. I donned my Cairns New Yorker I had on the job and my company shirt which I hadn't worn since that day. I figured it was time to blow the dust off the helmet and move forward from that day.
We now live in Maryland and there's a bit of a disconnect here from where we're from, people really don't have a direct connection to that day. I wanted to have a bit of a catharsis and also raise attention to those 343 that gave all that day, more specifically E24/L5. I'm sure I am on a zillion facebook pages as a lot of people were taking pictures. Lots of thumbs up, honks etc etc etc. Man I miss that job so much, the best job in the world! My wife is on me to write a book with my story, maybe some day. . .
