Baie Comeau & Karma...

The day started out cold & rainy this morning...leaving Matane for Baie Comeau...which took about 2.5 hrs crossing the St. Lawrence seaway.

one of few things you can do on a ferry crossing....cat nap!

Baie Comeau here we come...

ready to roll...

Baie Comeau being an industrial and shipping port is also the starting point or end point for those wishing to do the Trans Labrador Highway. In this town I came down from the TLH in 2008.

not much to photograph but saw this at a roundabout...

It rained epic proportions so and we decided to call it quits at Forestville, QC after being on the road for only 1.5 hrs after the Ferry disembarkation then within 30 minutes fo checking in guess who pulls up at the same motel?? Why it is the venerable inmate DIRTYDR!!!! Sharon gives him a big warm welcome. We didn't expect to meet and there we are....
We've been monitoring our travels: ours doing the Newfoundland loop while he's doing the Labrador/Newfoundland loop. Us going down-he's going up.

His very innovative rig..carries the kitchen sink too ..

we finally meet in person!!

Discussing all things sidecar and routes...really was cool meeting him. A superb nice guy making me wish we'd turn north and ride up to TLH.

Went to dinner together...discussed whether we'd continue on our way tomorrow in the very morning or prolong our breakfast till the rain Gods ease off a bit.

Parting ways...

Had a bit of breakfast with DirtyDR before he headed to Baie Comeau and meet his nemesis: the TLH in the rains...

Finally got our smiles?? He smiled but it's hidden by his Walruss mustache. I can't even lipread him...Sharon to the rescue...

Sharon fitting his glove sleeve over the oilskins...

Off he goes.....

As quick as he came out of the fog and rains, then just as quick he disappears into it..

Gone.....

The rains and fog persisted all morning and things started to get a bit hectic with fogged helmet windshields ..

Coming to the free ferry at Tadousac. It's a dual ferry that carries passengers and vehicles across the Riviere Saguenay. It's like a Fijord..so beautiful that instead of building a bridge Quebec decided to have it crossed via ferry only in order to preserve it's natural beauty.

Underway...
The mighty Riviere Saguenay and the Fijord..

We're moving at 11km/h (6 knots) across the river..

In Canada whenever you see these "?" signs; indicates information centers or travel information for those requesting local info. Just follow the "?" and they'll help you with anything you want to know..

Then we again ran into pea soup thick fog for a while...could hardly see within 30 feet on occassion...

Searching for lunch in the FOG

Clearing a bit at lower elevation..

Ahhhhh...Found it..

Towns wall mural at the river s bridge indicating the seasonal sequences

This is an artistic town...all kinds of galleries here...$$$$$

this remarkable sculpture was made out of old nails pulled out of boats that were all over the coast...amazing!!

ooooh la la...

Town cemetery in the heart of Town...immacualte..

Town Hobo admiring our rig...

Our supper after a foggy day...
Cheers.............

Looks like things are setting up for a good anniversary celebration for you guys. Cafeteria lunch yesterday at Manic cinq and who knows what and where today.

Getting ready to pull out of Labrador City for another rainy ride today.

The weather report says sunny in Goose Bay but I'll believe it when I see it this afternoon.

Seems like your a man of extremes! Braving the nasty northeastern dreary cold and wet weather and then next month it will be the TAT's scorching heat! Ya da man!

Tomorrow I will be heading for the Land of 10,000 Lakes. My KTM still need a few add ons before its ready for our TAT assault. Hope your not "throwing a towel" ?

Quebec; Quebec...vieux Quebec..

On the way to Cite Quebec

Can you see the city in the distance?

A lot of devout people frequent this Cathedral for salvation and cures..Notre Dame St Anne de Beaupre...

still quite a long way to Cite Quebec

Approaching Cite Quebec in the rains

Our pad for the day...just picked it off the street

Comes with a garage for our well deserved faithful steed...

On the way to Vieux Quebec...

The walled city...

No Motos through the old city??? The last time I heard that people on sidewalk cafes complained of Quebecs HD riders atttidude toward the freedom of loud pipes. So no bikes allowed to transit the old street and of what ever make, even though your bike might sound like a sewing machine...no dice..
But now in 2010 I see a different sign..it just says bikes turn left instead of them not being allowed...Hmmnn...might ride through it tomorrow

The evermore artistic wife of mine who love arts of all kinds..

This is the alley that we traversed away from tourists and where the locals eat...

We came here in 2007: our beloved watering hole for Cafe au lait and Crosissants..

Please read about the battles of the Citadel and the British on Google for the supermacy of Quebec....

Through these dungeon alleys come bistros alive..

Le MacDonalds is available for the folks from the South who want to stuff their kids with corporate colon food avoiding having them eat $$$$ Quebec culinary delights..

80 Years of Slurpees...

Cape Breton Creperie

Gelato Supremes

The real staff of Life...

Les Desserts...nothing goes wrong here except the waistline

It's pre anniversary day and she likey-likey..$$$
