Junac and I hooked up for a coffee this morning. You should join us next time, if you can fit it into your ultra busy FD schedule... like to hear how serious you are about Baja. I've researched it pretty thoroughly and I think I'm going to take a crack at it when/if I get my offroad skills up to snuff. And Junac can tell you what a great job WFD did prying his butt out of the grill of a van on Wyandotte
Also might be interested to bring you out of semi retirement as an instructor.

hehe, yeah the next 2 weeks are classes all day till 5 and then the next week is a study week and the following week is exams week, with written, oral and pracitcal exams. Then Im back to a normal schedule. Sure, I can do some lessons privately if you like, I still do a few here and there.

Baja and Dakar are a very serious thing for me. I have wanted to do the Dakar since I was like 13 or so, when I first saw a brief thing on it. I think back then THierry Sabeen was still running it. Baja is a given, that will be done in 2011 or 2012. I know alot of guys that have done both, so its just getting my dirt skills up and getting my mechanics skills up. Im more concerned with mechanics at the moment hehe.

Yeah we should hit a Timmies some time man, im in!

Definitely better scenery at our coffee shop Junac. You have seen the light. No, I am no longer the mayor of Barfville, everyone is over it.

Hey all

Hey guys,
I moved into Sarnia from Alberta (hence the handle) and am interested in catching up with you if you are doing a ride this spring. I intend on picking up a DS bike this summer and have kept my eyes open for deals on the other side of the river... I currently ride a 04 Yamaha FZ6 with "speed tape" holding the front fairing together due to an unexpected meeting with an antelope while rolling through Harlem Montana last June.
Anyways, just thought I would post here since I am usually on ADV every week or so. Hope to ride with you all this spring if a street bike doesn't cramp your style.
Cheers
D

Welcome, most of our guys from the valley moved the other way, lol. Im north of Sarnia along the lake and work down in the valley.

Got any idea what kind of bike your looking for??, there are some good deals across the creek even with the $250 RIV fee etc.

I believe the one local ride they got in last year had a street bike on it, always a work around. Maybe meet up sometime, been too busy sledding to think about the bike lately

Cheers, Todd

Welcome to the area. Not in the area now but back in the spring. Maybe a meet for coffee with some of the other ADV'ers in the area might be arranged when the snow is gone.
