ADV riders in need of help: List

After Randy being stuck in a water hole while riding out by himself, without anyone to help him get out i thought it would be a good idea to get a help list put together.

this would be a list send out by e-mail with personal info such as your location (general area where you live), your name (first only is fine) and your phone number (preferably cell), that would be sent to me via e-mail.

this doesn't mean that you have to go out and help anyone, obviously we all have stuff going on during the day etc but if you are free and feel like helping it would always be a plus.

if you feel like being on the list please fill out the info below and e-mail it to me at "My Screen name @gmail.com" and i will update the list as i get info. if you ever want to be removed from the list please just fill out the same info and send me a e-mail asking to be removed.

Info:

Area:
Name:
Phone:

PS: Please keep in mind that this is my private e-mail address. please don't start sending me all kinds of BS joke of the day and politics e-mails. if you do i will remove/block you from my e-mail account. i'm sorry to be such a dick about this but i have a buddy of mine that sends me all kinds of politics e-mails all day long that keeps my phone beeping every 5 mins cause he sent me another e-mail that i don't care about.

e-mails would be best. it's going to mean that i will have to save 2 lists or names/e-mails.

i figure e-mails are the best cause most everyone get's them on their phone esp if you have a android phone, you can jus go back and search for the list. it will be much easier etc to find and for me update.

i will try to get the list together tomorrow night. i've been busy with the baby coming and i've been trying to buy a new truck.

no baby yet but i did pick up this rescue vehicle last night.

i sent the list out. some of you replied by PM, if you replied by pm you were not added to the list as i did not have you info in my e-mail and i do not have your e-mail to send you the list.

this list will be ongoing so it will continue to grow as time goes on.

if you wish to be added to the list please follow the directions in the first post.

A good idea, BUT...

When my KLR broke, I was in BFE, alone, & had NO CELL SERVICE! If it weren't for the grace of God & some locals, I could have been out there till dark.

I don't mean to poo-poo on your idea, but I just want ask what to do in such a situation. Yes, I know about the Spot Tracker. Not everyone has one. So other than that, what? Especially when most of where we ride is lack of cell service.

in my case..... i download a app to my Android powered cell phone that tells me where i last parked my car. get stuck, break down etc. walk to the first spot that has cell service, open gmail app on phone, google search e-mail for the advrider help list. browse the list to see if there is anyone willing to help that is local, call them.... if they are willing to help tell them where i am. they pick me up, i open the app that will give me the gps location of where i parked my "car" and copy and paste that into my sprint navigation app on my phone and that leads me back to my bike. much easier that hoping for some one to come by. i'd rather know someone is coming to help me.

when being stuck far from home there's nothing like knowing there's help around the corner.

i bet when Randy was stuck out in the Glades if his bike wouldn't have started he would have been extremely grateful for a way to get it running again or atleast have a way to get him and his bike home.

i live over an hour away from where Randy got stuck.... if i was free that day and he would have called me all it would have taken would have been some gas to replace what i used and i would have been there with a trailer and a nice air conditioned ride home. after a hot summer day spent being stuck out in the Glades something like that could be priceless to someone.
