It's on the Motobins site as well. Were you thinking of one of these?

The Euro bezel will work on the G/S and GS up to '91 when they switch to the speedo/tach combo and K bike handlebar switch gear.
Same as I have on the NC G/S.

Someone was looking for something like that to use after installing the 5-position switch, and they were happy to see SL's mention of the 5-position trim ring that might be used. Then I wondered if that would even work, since the G/S and GS switch attaches differently than the ones for which that ring was intended. It's all in the earlier posts - just read the thread - but with the complete dash being only $20 it's sort of a moot point now. Personally I think the 5-position switch is a PITA anyway. I'd rather just have off/run/run+lights. Will do the wire swap one of these months. |

Just for clarity, the "euro" 5 position ignition switch was standard equipment on all of the 1974 /6 bikes.
Just since no one has mentioned it. Robert |

Anton, the 5 position switch might be a pain, but since I already have it, I might as well try using it. I am thinking the manner in which I will use it is to start my early GS without the headlight on, and then prior to moving out, switching over to have the light on constantly. I just very much prefer the headlight NOT drawing precious battery power until the bike is running. And thank you to Rob for both the side lights explanation (makes perfect sense) and for the pretty picture of the part I want and need but cannot get (yet).

Bloody old thread I know but as I'm going to be doing a hell of a lot of fireroads and trails at slow speed this year I wanted an option of running without lights using power . The swapping of the grey and green wires was perfect for me !
Cheers guys .
