Many happy and safe miles to you, Chris! I hated like hell to part with her, but I'm happy that a "true" rider, has given her a good home.

I had named her "Gertie", a famous duck from WI. I believe this is the best bike in the world in the "wet", and Gertie had captured the imagination of the nation years ago due to her determination. Those of us that ride in FL know what "wet" is! Ha ha!

The recovery from my neck fuse, plate, screws, cadaver bones, shoulder pins and all the rest is the result of not paying attention for a split second, while operating a two wheeled vehicle. I've been riding for 42 years...

The S10 deserves a rider. "Gertie" has one.

Hi roarin
The bags are Andys Expedition Panniers http://www.andystrapz.com/
Yes it is NSW Australia & Tooheys is a beer, I believe Fosters is still available but I dont know anyone in Oz that drinks it. Last time i bought fuel it was $1.65 per litre for 98 octane.

Tooheys is some GOOOOD beer! My last trip to NSW was in '95 and we practically lived off the stuff when we weren't flying

Ok, I read that on MCUSA and it sounded like a lot of fun. However, I see a lot of proper dirt bikes, all knobbies and a lot of 21" front wheels. The report said lots of sand and with good tires, I know the Super Ten will get through that but you never forget how big she is in sand. Did you do the advanced? It looked like it would would have been quite a challenge and knowing what a beast Jimmy Lewis is, I wondered if mere mortals could hang with this group.

So, are you an A class enduro/hair scrambles/XC guy or a normal humanoid?

I am so humanoid!!!!!!!!!!! No way I was doing the advanced. I am not good enough for that at all!!!!! Especially after understanding Jimmy and his skewed definition of scenic, intermediate, and advanced!!! That guy is from another planet with MAD skills!!!!!

Phil is it??

I think I saw "Phil" when I was looking through all the pictures on Smugmug

What's up with the tie-wrap on the fork? was it holding a sleeve of some sort?

Also, what's up with "1BMWFAN" on Smugmug? did you have a BMW before and what model? I'm just curious

How did the bike handle in the sand with the knobbies? did it feel stable? I took mine on a trail with the original tires and the beast was wondering all over in the sand

I used to ride a Yamaha XT250 28 years ago and was a decent rider on dirt but now I'm 51 and a little more scared, the Tenere is not a light bike for sure, I'm just wondering how it felt with the knobbies you have.

Nice pictures by the way, love the blue color in the vast whiteness of Death Valley
