What is your honest opinion of the Tenere as compared to that BMW?

The one in the mud was brand new. Yellow sticker and everything. First time off road.
I have a small reputation for riding a little hard and he would not let me try is bike.

The other one was new to that owner and his first time off road as well. I didn't ask.

The third GS1200 on the ride was the guy who put the ride together. I was impressed with his
pace and he made it fun to ride. Since I wasn't exactly sure where we were going I let him lead.

To avoid dust several times I followed at his rear wheel and to the side. I was surprised how his
bike looked to be a handful and I think me tailgating made him up the pace. I felt the Tenere was
easier to ride watching his twitch and brake into corners.

So the fact is I never got anyone to trade me bikes. I like swapping rides to get a feel for other bikes.
Perfect chance to get a feel for late model BMWs in a really good test area....just didn't get the hands
on ride I would have liked.

I can say the BMW guys were VERY happy with their bikes and the one had just traded in his 1150GS
with over 80,000 miles and no major mechanical failures. Felt his new 1200 was much improved in the
power department and handled well for him. On pavement he was really fun to chase.

Side note. When I first bought my Tenere I was on a couples ride. The single up Strom rider would
beat my double upped Tenere on the flats high speed roll ons. It wasn't even close. I've since had
the ECU reflashed and the clutch mod plus 8,000 more miles on it. The tables were turned
this time. The Tenere out ran the Strom. On the pavement I was usually ahead of he BMWs so I
didn't get the chance to roll on compare.

It's all good until the Ducati shows up on the tarmac.

There is a pic or two of you in there.
Nice report. Thanks for taking the time to put it together. Great riding out that way. Was in the area for the RMAR Rally in August. Can't wait to get back.

Looks like the TENERE handled every thing in stride.

Make a 5mm stainless bottom skid plate with a large piece of conveyer belt padding. Works like a charm. Skid over rocks with ease. Prevention is better than cure;-)

As long as you don't attach it the same way the OEM does...

It's happening. A dealership about 5 hours away just dropped the MSRP down almost $2k. He has 4 Ravens on the floor and I hope to claim one. I'll be trading in the battered Vee-Strom. She served me well but I've been oogling these ST's the day Yamaha mentioned their US release. Hopefully I can make it happen this weekend if the Strom parts arrive in time.

Any guys in the US interested in a group buy for Rumbux Crash bars?

I've had loads of inquiries regarding these, but shipping usually is a problem. If the order is big enough, the savings will be pretty big.

We currently have one guy in the states importing these:
http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=787630

Dunno if he's going to continue, but he can speak to that.

I personally had a mounting tab for the uppers take a pretty nice bend on my first drop. The bars are now off the bike and in my garage so that I can bend the tab back to normal.

Do you have any tip-over experience with these bars on? I still have concerns about the load being pretty focused on that one tab. The bars feel really solid and there are many many people who are happy with them so hopefully my fall just landed perfectly (read: unluckily) my experience is an exception. The skid plate is quite nice and I may end up pairing it with a different set of uppers.

FWIW, Eric (DirtyBike) has been quick to respond and very helpful with input whenever requested. He's an excellent vendor to deal with and hopefully will continue to import these into the US for those who want them.

If he is willing to bring them in, that perfectly fine and I dont want to meddle in his business.

According to the manufacturer, he does not have stock at the moment.

My solutions was that, if some of the owners would like some bars, please let me know as I sell them locally and have had at least 10 inquiries from the US in the last 3 month.

Just want to offer assistance or a solution.
