I've had the HP2e, the GSA, 8GS, X Challenge, and X Moto and was a BMW only guy for a while. I decided to buy a class c diesel motorhome for the wife & kids and the Beemers had to go and I had to slum it () for a Super Tenere. It was hard to get used to but I really think it is a very good bike. It's a heck of a lot better than a Strom or 800gs for what I do. When I lived in VA, I had to ride 3 hours to get to any sort of dirt road and the GSA was great for the slab and twisty mountain roads. I just miss that German refinement and the feel of the boxer.

Now I live in some of the best riding in the country and have a KX250 and XR650R and the Tenere is sort of my dirt touring bike. I usually run a TKC on the front and a 605 on the rear but just tried the K60 on the rear (good). Realize that in a recent episode of delusional thinking, I was going to sell the S-10 and go into major debt for a new GSA. This recent trip to Mexico, though, has changed my mind. Prior to the trip, I put on the larger windscreen that really made a big difference in comfort.

Sure looks like he's running a tall, tinted Parabellum windscreen to me, Tabasco. I run a clear medium Parabellum on mine and I love it. Way better than the CalSci I tried on it first.

Yep. It's a little too tall for me, but for this ride it worked wonders on the slab and in the cold.

Just curious, as I've pretty much made up my mind that the S10 is going to be my next bike: I noticed that these do not have any sort of locking cubby bin on the fairing. Kawasaki makes a handlebar bag for the KLR, is there something similar yon's would recommend for the S10? I basically need something to carry an EZPass, a spare 20$ bill, and a few small snacks (hypoglycaemic, always need to carry some kind of sugar with me...)

Also, would anyone have any good tankbag recommendations for these? When I go to buy it initially, I'm hoping to get the OEM luggage as part of the deal, but that remains to be seen. Eventually, I would like to buy the Givi Trekker cases for this, as it's going to be effectively replacing an older Concours as my main ride. (Hoping to pick up a nice, used sportbike next year as my canyon carver...)

Love this thread, yon's are da best!

Thanks for the pics, Steelpony. Where did you get the YAMAHA sticker that you have on the swingarm?

Thanks.

Talking Nothing special, just ridin'...

~

I'm afraid I didn't go anyplace exotic or far away this past weekend, but I did get out for a few hundred miles riding Saturday & Sunday...

Geez, it was beautiful... mid-'50's in the morning, climbing into the mid-'70's in the afternoon. Clear air. Sunny skies. Sometimes with a smattering of lightly scattered cloud cover, and just some light breezes. Doesn't get much better than that...

One reason I wasn't taking a lot of pictures. I was having too much fun just enjoying the ride!
