Somebody should start a poll to determine Pluric's new schtick.

Which color owner is most likely to PM GB? I'm fuckn' kidding. Do not take that
and run with it. The weather is breaking and I'm going riding. I have not decided
which camera to take the pictures with yet, but I will come back and post some.

The old Pluric would have said "It looks like DaFoole has found his soul mate"
The new Pluric instead will say "Looks like you two have very similar packing skills"
(That still came out sounding wrong) I'm working on it.

Nice picture. I actually have that specific spot (the first one, with the bike in the road) indelibly burned into my memory. Story time...

So back in early March of 2008, I headed to Lawton, Oklahoma from Mississippi on the trusty Vstrom to see a friend who had just gotten back from a tour of duty in Iraq. Just a couple of weeks before, I had lost a very close friend to PTSD related suicide after he had done his second tour over there, so I was in sore need of some helmet time.

I broke up the trip into two days. Spent the night in Mena, AR and headed out early the next morning on the Talimena. Well I made it about half way up the hill and hit a brick wall of fog. I couldn't even see the side of the road, much less anything coming at me. So I turned around, found a McDonalds, had a cup of coffee, and waited.

After about an hour, I figured surely it was safe to proceed, but nope. Hit the same fog again at about the same spot, but time was a factor and I just pushed through. It was pea soup until right where that picture was taken, where it just totally cleared. Nothing gradual, just drove straight into a sunny day.

Thanks for indulging my walk down memory lane. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Not much. Most of the original trace was either incorporated into the current one, is totally overgrown, or became modern gravel roads that you wouldn't recognize as the "Old Trace," but just as a gravel road. There are lots of gravel roads that roughly parallel the Trace in the rural areas though.

When you see a sign for the Old Trace, it generally shows a sunken two track that is not open to riding and dead ends pretty quickly. I'm not sure where the above picture was taken though.

Keep me posted on your progress. I'm not but about 45 miles East of the Trace in Columbus, MS.
