Is that an Altrider plate? Do you have details of the incident? Please share.

Yes it is.

Rumor has it the guy bottomed out in big wash on a dirt road at speed trying to keep up with Slowoldguy and his crew.

What, did the plate bend/flex up into one of those hanging-down bosses off the sump cover and punch a hole up into it?

Hope all it hurt was the sump...

Got to put a few miles on it today, here's a few pics from the straight flat roads of Florida. And to be clear ,none of what you see will be dirt, only sand.Managed to lose the bolt that hold on the throttle side handguard today on the highway. Did manage to grab the weight though before it fell.

I'll have to say, that's not a sign I get to see much around here.

I didn't where the sump actually broke. Andrew may have gotten a better look at it.

Good to know that a moderately Upgrades 660 is working already well for you. What changes have you made to the forks? Just springs and oil?

Nothing yet in the forks, just put it it harder.
The "moderated upgrades" are going to finish soon with a new Yamaha YZ fork and new front wheel

That is good to hear, i think about buying a used xt660z or a older transalp as second bike and don't plan to invest a lot in it beyond gas and tires ;-)
