3) Keep and eye on the spoke tension, especially the rear. They do come loose. Once the bike has done a thousand miles or so they settle down. If you loose any, you can only buy a full set.
4) Remove both axles as soon as possible and grease them. They are not a rubbing part but there is virtually no rust protection on them and if they corrode, they are a bitch to get out for future tyre changes. (same for all Yamaha's sadly)

I just had a couple of questions about the bike. What kind of fuel mileage do you get? Is everybody running premium fuel as the owners manual says is required? Is there anything I need to pay special attention for the break-in process?
Everything OGR says and if you ride in the rain/damp (or even if not) pull the ignition coils and get some rubber grease on the seals. I had to replace one (it seems to be the lhs coil that suffers most) due to corrosion on the coil shaft, it was also a PITA to get out due to it being stuck solid (snapped the bolt flange off when twisting it out).
PS if you don't want spoke corrosion your going to have to apply a wheel wax/corrosion block to them , the liquid products just centrifuge off and can get on the tyre. Other areas that can corrode in damp climates are the end of the frame /engine bolt tubes and the front water pipe behind the exhaust/headers.
Most of the above are probably due to riding in damp/salty/icy conditions that we have in the UK winters/spring and summers.

Have 36,000 km on my S10 and my spokes still look pristine, just give them a quick cleaning with scotch pad when I wash the bike. Haven't noticed any other corrosion on the bike either. I'm in Japan, four seasons here but no salt used on the roads.

Frankie is in his 70's Ric, as much as I hate to say it, you look a wee bit younger.

Cool.

Make sure you do HWY96. Lots of bigfeet and a truly lovely road.

There has been no snow overnight where I am in littleton but its snowing now.

The forks of salmon road is fine. 96 is right there with it. It all depends on your needs. Salmon road will have you in 3rd gear a lot. If you are feeling frisky take "lady bird johnson rd" to Orick(my hometown, Yurok indian res) population 650. Its a a dead lumber town now but eat breakfast at the palm cafe. Mention my name and flirt a little and the 9th cup of so so coffee is free.

If you need parts or service up there in the emerald triangle just stop at my dads place. He has tires and parts and beer. Address upon request.

If you break something between willow creek and orleans(hwy96) you are on the Hoopa resevation. Say my name. Hope for good things.
