Something has come up that will require me to postpone the ride next week. I will have to reschedule.

Looks like May 15th and 16th is when the ride will take place. Not sure how this will work out for you. I have a friend from San Jose who will be up in Colfax and wants to do the ride. So as of now there would be three of us if you can squeeze it in.

Wow, nobody's been riding for a while....

So... rode thru Paskenta to Covelo and back yesterday with a good friend. 4 hours over and 4 back, My bud is a real newb so we went extra slow. The Drz with supermoto tires/wheels was not kind to my Nalga. On the Paskenta side of the hill, the "road" had not been traveled much, few down trees, and many of the roads were not marked, or the signs were down. Saw NO vehicals/people until we were within 30 minutes of Covelo. No deer, animals of any kind, very strange.

On the way back, took the wrong trail (once again the road markers were missing/down) and ended up on FT7 that came out above Elk Creek, which was ok as it was almost exactly the same distance, 90 miles. Ran across a few deer with their fawn's, couple forest service trucks and a logging truck.

I haven't been up in this area for many years, and it was suprising how everything seemed to be in disrepair. 15 years ago we took our honda acorn and two dogs to Fort Bragg using these roads and it was no problem, now there would be no way. I don't know if it is due to budget cuts, or mabe the new generation doesn't care to visit the forest?

I've done some 4-wheelin in the Facherie lake and Signal Peak area, some rough assed roads over there. Beautiful country.

I'm sure the extortion level gas prices have something to do with it...

Paskenta to Covelo

It has been a long time since I have traveled from Paskenta to Covelo. Many a time over the years I have thought of going back into that area. Surprised the conditions are so 'primitive'. I have heard many stories as to how vigilant the Mendocino National Forest 'staff' seem to be. Indeed, budget cuts can make a big difference. Hope to get onto, and explore that ridge. Perhaps as temps fall in the late Summer, early fall. Any interest in a slow speed adventure, let the 200cc guy know. Thanks, Gerry

I have been riding the fire roads in this area recently. Riding alone maybe not a good idea, so would welcome someone
to ride with. Kinda old, kinda slow, available any time.
