Great bike you have!!! My buddy had one of those he bought new in 00. He called me one day and said come buy this bike due to a divorce. I passed on it like a fool because I was saving for a house. So at least I had a good excuse. He let me borrow it for a couple of days in trade for an oil change and detailing. What a speed demon it was

I have that bikes big brother.

Out for a ride

This was a photo a friend took last week, nice afternoon ride of about 350 miles to the TX coast and back home. Trying to decide whether to go dirty or stay clean. I do my best to keep up with these Connies. And for the most part do fairly well. But, I'm not as tired at the end of the day and mine looks better once we stop.

Like that color. What kind of gas mileage do you get?

Went on a 300 mile ride yesterday. The KLR that rode with us claims he gets about 50mpg. The older HD RoadGlide and my V-Rod get about 32. The Victory rider said he gets about 38. Didn't ask the other HD, or the other two metric cruisers.

We were at 70 mph most of the way.

Hello, my name is Mark and I'm a Harley owner. Just picked up this baby yesterday at our House Of Harley's Biketoberfest. My 1st Harley!

Man, lemme tell you, a LOT of very surprised people in meatspace and cyberspace as I've been a longtime sportbike and dualsport rider. But still, for years I've called our Harley shop THE friendliest bike shop in town. Besides hosting many community functions they even dyno'd my Duc for free on my birthday a few years back. Oh and they have a free camp spot for all motorcycle travelers that includes access to a free showeroom. They gave me a killer deal on this 2011 Softail Deluxe in part because they think of finally getting me on a Harley as great PR in our riding community.

I can't even believe they let me ride it out of the shop through the Biketoberfest crowd. Talk about some trust! Below this photo of me heading out on a test ride last week I've included the video my brother shot of yesterday's departure. Let the good times roll, Mark H.

That is a Superglide Sport FXDX, made from 1999-2006(?)
Basically a Superglide with long travel, fully adjustable suspension at both ends,
and with the black on black finish.
I love my 2002 model. Great all rounder.

Mark... Serious congrats. Sweet H-D. You will find riding the great Milwaukee bike enhances the appreciation for sporting and dual-sporting rides... and vice versa.

Gas mileage varies directly with relative speed. Chasing those sport tourers, full throttle trying to pass slow traffic and catch them, with a headwind it can drop as low as 34 mpg. On a trip from central Texas to the Grand Canyon two weeks ago I got over 50 by keeping the speed at 50-55 without any noticeable wind affect. Normally she gets low 40's mpg running around town and easy highway cruising; 65-75 mph. I remember one specific day ride running with a south wind of 20+ I got 54 mpg running at 75 mph. The return leg at the same speeds I got 30 into the wind. So, it varies.

You are correct sir... They were made until 05 then discontinued. The 99-02 had forged crankshafts I believe and mine is a carbed version. These are a true riders bike. Not too much rake, good brakes, good suspension, and the mag wheels add that Hot Rod look.

I just finished installing a set of S&S gear drive cams, and have a Thunderheader awaiting to install as well. Link to cool video below.
