You are correct sir... They were made until 05 then discontinued. The 99-02 had forged crankshafts I believe and mine is a carbed version. These are a true riders bike. Not too much rake, good brakes, good suspension, and the mag wheels add that Hot Rod look.

I just finished installing a set of S&S gear drive cams, and have a Thunderheader awaiting to install as well. Link to cool video below.

Man, lemme tell you, a LOT of very surprised people in meatspace and cyberspace as I've been a longtime sportbike and dualsport rider. Oh and they have a free camp spot for all motorcycle travelers that includes access to a free showeroom. Thanks man that makes me feel better. I bought a 2010 FLHTP last year and saw all this crap on the net and in advertisements about E'Glides getting 50 mpg. Our first trip on it we averaged about 33 mpg on the highway @ 80-85 mph indicated 2 up and loaded lightly for a 4 day weekend. I've seen mid 40's solo on 2 lanes. I trhought I was out there on my own, good to know.

Stop shifting into 6th below 75mph and your fuel economy will go up. Your engine will oil better and last longer too.
3000-3100 rpm's is where they do best.

Agreed on the revs. And there's a spot above 80 mph where mpg takes a serious hit. I tracked mpg very closely on a long solo trip (camping gear). Worst was 33 mpg running 90 mph (on cruise) into a 20 mph sidewind across S. Dakota. High was 57 mpg running WITH a 15 mph tailwind in Idaho, high altitude, going 65 mph. Average for entire 11,000 mile trip was 43 mpg. Road GLide Ultra with the 103 and no mods.

The bat wing fairing is not the most aerodynamic front on a motorcycle. It's too flat to be efficient at speed. That forces more throttle to move it through the air. A head wind will kill your efficiency trying to maintain ground speed. I ride with a guy on who has a '09 Concourse that slips through the air. His mileage only goes down when he runs wide open. Mine goes down trying to keep up with him.
