Off road rides around Israel

Hello everyone
My name is Nave I'm from Israel and I have been writing up until now on the Suzuki DR750/800 thread.
I follow the advice of guys from there and uploding here a collection of pics from my rides around Israel with my very modified Suzuki DR800...
hope you enjoy

well, i'm going to start with some pix from the time when the bike was still looking like a dr800...

this one was taking at the Judean desert, about 30 minute east to Jerusalem.

and this one was taking about 20 minute west to Jerusalem...
how about that in change of scenery in less then 1 hour ride...

this one is from- Ramot Menash or the hills of Menash...
about half an hour driving north from Tel-Aviv...

now lets go a bit up to the north, more true- the south of the north, the place where I was born and I'm going back to live in 6 months
the area is the lower gallile and the round mountain is mount Tavor.
just behind it (to the west) is the city of Nazareth

Back to the center of Israel-
i will let the pix to talk...

Now lets go back to the desert:

When a lot is on your mind what is better then leaving everything behind and go to clean the disturb mind in a few days in the desert?
So, I pick up the wife, 2 kids and the bike and went to visit good friends who live in a small "moshav" named- Faran in south Israel where they grow peppers.

On Friday morning welcomed me a beautiful sunny autumn day- some clouds in the sky and clear and clean air with excellent visibility.

had a rough idea about where I want to go and decided to decide as I go, see who or what I will find on the way…which is one of the benefits of riding solo…

I only knew that I want to end the day on a beautiful point above the Ramon crater

As usual, on the way I met some very nice people- bicycle riders, hikers and also to surprise some gazelle andibex- who don’t give you the time to pull out the camera…
Between one wadi and anther I made time for coffee or tea breaks, by my self or with
Guests I met on the way.
To my surprise I didn’t meet any motorcycles…

When the sun was not so high in the sky I finely got to the point where I took these pictures. What a place to finish a day. Any day!

I have to share with you something- I put the bike over there riding on. To get to that point you have to go over a crack that is about 40cm width and over 50m deep. I notice that only after the front wheel was already on the other side…

After I took some pictures and enjoyed the view it was time to get the bike from there… then some strange fear trickle dawn my spine…

The way beck I did walking the bike, and not looking down…

From there it's a short ride to the small town of mitzpe ramon. It's time to put some gas in the tank air in the tires to fit them for some fast on road ride. (I have only good things to say about the Dunlop D606)

That was the dessert of the day- 80 kilometer of empty desert road with slow curves, long full gasstraights and excellent landscape beck to Faran.

Perfect day, perfect bike.

Going beck to the south...
after reading about some of you guys riding at the snow i just have to warm you up with some pix from this weekend...

me and a good friend on a XR650 left the wifes and kids and...

replacing a torn clutch cable...

then we arrived here...a white crack in the middle of all the black and brown

good time to rest and take the gear off

a look from above

all the gear is off...

i will spare you our pix here...

and a look from the bottom

puncture is a part of the game

2 kinds of desert camel...

the next day i took Maya for some hill climbing.

so she can get a good view...

these camels are evrey were...

hope i got you warm up :)

well, I promise you some green too...
Just return from a week end at the north (where it's green )
and a month from now all is going to be yellow...
this time I went to the Golan Hights-

the way starts from -200 meters at the sea of Galile and from there is a climb up to +2200 meters at the highst place.
i went to the south of the Golan to the triangle border between Israel, Jordan and Syria.

the Golan is a wonderful mix of un touched nature with large agriculture field. both in there peak now.
peach blooming

So very Nice. Thank you. Peace to the people and land of Israel...

wow. Some of the best pics I've seen on here. Are you going to post more in this thread? Or should I watch the DR800/750 thread?

thanks for posting the beautiful pics. I have never seen Israel before, except on TV, and then it's always a war zone. Thanks for showing us a different side of things.

Greetings Nave,

We don't get a lot of reports from Israel. It is nice to see people are out riding - it looks like there is plenty of open desert to explore

I,m imagining that Israel is a bit like my new home Colombia.Looks and sounds scary from the outside, but once you,re there the biggest danger is you won,t want to leave!!!
