Central Oregon Fly and Ride - Powered Parachute Meet
Just returned from the Central Oregon Powered Parachute Meet. Had a great time
The event was held on Beasly Dry Lake just south of Fort Rock OR. We were camped on the lake bed for 4 days, lots of great flying, riding and just having fun. Can't wait till next year...Fun Stuff. Here are a few pics from the event. Here's a shot of everyone's campers parked on the lake bed...and runway. ![]() And a couple more angles of the lake bed. The main lake bed is hard and smooth. ![]() ![]() A PPC getting ready to become airborne. ![]() Heading towards Fort Rock. You can see the town of Fort Rock also. ![]() This is a cool museum stop in Fort Rock if your ever passing through and have the time. These are all original buildings from the turn of the century from around this area, they were all moved here to create a museum. Very cool! ![]() Heading towards Fort Rock to have a look. ![]() The wind started picking up so the PPC's headed back into the lake bed to land. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() During the days we would play with the bikes and just explore the area. My son and I cruising the desert...putting along in first gear. ![]() What's this??? My son thought this dead coyote was very cool. ![]() ![]() We went into Fort Rock to check out the museum. Very cool! ![]() ![]() Mike on the Honda powered baja minibike. ![]() My son on his Skuut bike. These are popular in Europe for teaching kids how to ride a bike. They just push them along and eventually learn to pick up their feet and coast. They can transition from the Skuut to a bicycle without using training wheels, he loves it. He was getting where he could coast quite a ways out on the playa. ![]() ![]() ![]() And more flying. Sweeeeeeeet! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This guy must only own the circle...his house is on a little pie slice of it. Interesting. ![]() Line up of everyone's machines. ![]() Picture of Fort Rock. ![]() TW out on the Playa. ![]() Playin around. ![]() Old hood out on the lake bed. ![]() KTM on the sand dunes. ![]() One of the pilots drew out this coarse on the playa, everyone was timed to see who could go the slowest without going out of bounds or putting a foot down. I got 1 min 50 sec, next best was 1 min. ![]() ![]() ![]() Highly modified Honda Trail 90. They guy that owns this bike rode a Vespa P200 scooter to Alaska and back....in the 70's when it was all gravel! He said the Vespa had over 170,000 miles on it when he sold it. WOW! ![]() Here's a video of my uncle and I coming in for a landing on the lake bed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAM_5SGZAAw Had a great time. Next PPC meet is at the end of August on the Alvord Dry Lake bed in OR if anyone wants to join in....Good chance you can take a ride in a PPC! Hodakaguy

I need to learn those. I couldn't afford to continue flying. Hell, I can't afford motorcycling at the moment

Generally 10-15mph is getting pretty windy, They have a 28mph forward speed. It's more of a calm morning and evening machine. Works out great taking the bikes with you, ride during the day and fly during the mornings and evenings. They really are a kick in the butt to fly, low and slow! Hodakaguy

Looks like you had a good time there. I like the pics of Fort Rock - had no idea that was down there. It's now on my list of places to visit. Thanks

Crack in the ground and Hole in the ground I figured out where they were last winter (on a map anyway) but I didn't know about Fort Rock. Hitting all three for a fall ride might be in order.
Thanks for posting. I love seeing pictures of places I've not been to but can get to easily and do some riding.
