Question for "black" frame owners - What is Model Year?

The VIN number tells what is your bike's model year. The 10th digit of the VIN is the international code for model year. If the 10th digit on your bike's VIN is a "B", the bike is a 2011 model. If it is a "C", it is a 2012 model year. So, for you guys with black frame bikes, is the 10th digit a B or a C?

Thanks
Lion

They don't include the instructions in the owners manual any more? We are not talking about replacing valve guides or something.

Usually you get a picture of the drain plug location, Oil Specs, torque Specs. If you need more than that to do an oil change on a modern motor then maybe some practice on the neighbors minivan would be a better place to start.

Cheers
Mess is an understatement. I found this the other day.

Looks like this jerkoff has obtained a digital copy of the manual somehow and is printing pirated bound copies. The real manual is 4-hole punched on A4 paper and comes in a hard 4-ring binder.

I say buy it from Triumph, the manual is well worth the $100 asking price. But if you must pirate it at least get it for free so jerks like the guy above don't make money off the pirating.

Here's what I think is the same guy and even slightly cheaper shipping.

http://store03.prostores.com/servlet...h-Tiger/Detail

Basically $41 USD out the door, shipped.

The consensus on the other Tiger site is the guy bought one, photo-copied it and had them rebound. According to the original post the manual arrive and looks great. I actually tried to order a service manual with my bike but my dealer said they're currently back-ordered until November?!?!!

Interesting.

From wikipedia (for whatever it is worth):

"Model year encoding

One consistent element of the VIN is the 10th digit, which is required worldwide to encode the model year of the vehicle. Besides the three letters that are not allowed in the VIN itself (I, O and Q), the letters U and Z and the digit 0 are not used for the model year code. Note that the year code is the model year for the vehicle.

The year 1980 was encoded by some manufacturers, especially General Motors and Chrysler, as "A" (since the 17-digit VIN wasn't mandatory until 1981, and the "A" or zero was in the manufacturer's pre-1981 placement in the VIN), yet Ford and AMC still used a zero for 1980. Subsequent years increment through the allowed letters, so that "Y" represents the year 2000. 2001 to 2009 are encoded as the digits 1 to 9, and subsequent years are encoded as "A", "B", "C", etc."

Using this scale, B is 2011 and C is 2012.
This is consistent with other materials I researched as well.
