I like the road version but , that sump looks fuggin orrible ! it needs a sump guard just to cover it,s ugliness , and I do not like the big gap above the cylinder head , AND THAT,S ALL
The triple engines are light years better , more fun , more tractable than the KRAUT sausagemunchers 800 twin GS , and best of all ? IT,S NOT A BMW !!!

I was thinking the front fender was too low as well... but look at the pic below and how the fender seems to taper down only at the very front. Seems like it could simply be cut back an inch or two to trim off the part that sits so close to the tire. Or maybe the fender is flexible enough to move out of the way for rocks/mud sticking to the tire and sits that close purely for aerodynamics.

Another interesting point: anyone else notice that the rear rim is an Excel? Presumably that means the front one is too. That should give the BMW/Behr bashers something to gloat about.

Do we know the overall size yet? I'd be interested to see how it compares size-wise (seat height, reach to bars, peg height, length, etc) to a V-Strom. I'm seriously thinking about selling my Wee for the street version, but I really like the big boy size of the wee and the stretch out room it gives me...I'd lose interest if it wasn't man-sized.

Is there anywhere specified what will be weight for XC version - with and without ABS ??

No centerstand, no ABS, small light pipe without cat -> ?? relative light touring and fun machine for dirt and long distance travels ;)

One thing we do know is that the Tiger has the fuel mounted higher in the actual tank, the GS has it under the seat. Couple that with the higher 3 cylinder engine and I would think any comparison test would be able to feel the top heavy difference in low to mid speed handling off road.

I am not sure of that.
I was thinking that black area under the seat between the frame trellis is fuel tank and that the air box its up top in the wide area of the "tank" fed by the intake ducts near the headlight.

Has this been confirmed? I see a fair sized air gap above the cyl head, and a lot of plastic under the seat and tail. Almost looks like the fuel tank may go partially under the seat?

I agree...they could have used a dry sump and then lowered the engine an inch or two and raised the ground clearance an inch

I'm sure they will consult you for the mark II, don't worry. Most people who will buy this bike won't think twice about this point and in any case, it's no different to the F800GS and is easily remedied by taking off the foot-peg.

Showa 43mm USD forks on the street version.

Showa 45mm USD forks with 220mm of travel on the XC version.
