If the check engine light hasn't come on, there won't be any codes for the dealer to read at service. So just do it yourself. And get TuneECU for reading codes yourself.

Congrats! Wayne does a lot more than change the oil. His mechanic went over a lot of bolts (like the header bolts) that are not required by Triumph. I don't remember how much he charged me, but I felt it was not a rip off. I'm due for the 6000 mile service & he said that will be about $250. Ouch!

Or just ignore it - my dealer forgot to reset that on the initial service but it was no biggie.

To avoid any potential dealer/warranty problems I would keep a nice Log Book. Give your Tiger it's own book and enter everything you do. Having the proper tools helps (to download new Tunes, up grades and read codes).

I don't mind taking my bikes to the dealer for certain jobs. But most stuff I do myself once I learn the bike. I keep accurate records specifically listing what was done with dates, mileage, parts used and so on. Also, having a Triumph service manual gives you credibility with the dealer and Triumph.

If a warranty issue arises you are covered. You need to keep a work log book, have factory service manual and be an "experienced" mechanic. This last bit is a bit gray ... but if your documentation is good then they can't deny you under law in most US states.

But I've not ever heard of warranty denials in the USA .... having a record of your work and work shop manual covers you.

Talking New owner and a first pass "cheat sheet"

Hiya,

I joined ADVrider not long ago and found the discussion in this thread very helpful in contemplating what to replace my nice little VTR250 with. In the end the T800 won out.

Picked her up last weekend, this shot taken toward the end of a great 480km run back from the dealer to home just outside Queanbeyan/Canberra...

1. Mag or cast alloy wheels. 2. Body colored front fender. 3. Gold front forks. 4. No hand guards. 5. Did I miss anything else...1 through 4 means Road model, not XC. Oh, yeah, red TIGER on the tank but no XC on the tank. (Except for my XC with the Red Tiger Black XC on the tank) Ken

Where do you see this supposed "XC"? I just see the Triumph and Tiger logos. And like all white roadies, the "Tiger" is red. On white XCs, the Tiger logo is blue.
