I have the abs version of that filter went on easy enough, but it is a much narrower filter than the non+abs version pictured above. I suspect that it actually restricting the airflow too much. I am not ready to make a full accusation right now, but I thought I would share my suspicions. I hope to test my hypothesis when I get some time.
I hope I am wrong, its am slick setup. Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2 |

I didn't notice any difference in anything after installing the pre-filter. Even with it filthy like that it was returning mid 50s UKmpg throughout my tour to Sardinia. But, as you can see in the photos, I have a LESS restrictive DNA airfilter in the box. Maybe one compensates for the other.

My gas mileage didn't change noticeably after installing the prefilter either. Still, I'm thinking that since it works so well, I might abandon the OEM paper filters in the future and go with an easier-breathing K&N filter in the airbox. I had been avoiding using one because they let more dust through than paper does, but the prefilter is so effective that the combination of the two should work great while allowing the engine to breathe a little more easily.

I knocked up a cover out of modelling plastic sheet. Hinge by Duct Tape. ![]() As it'll sit in the hole.... ![]() It also blocks all the gaps around the frame and should stop the filter being contaminated with fling off the chain.

Pre filter
I am looking for a pre filter that will fit on a tiger 800 road with ABS.
Anyone have a part number or someone that makes them? |

Someone posted in this thread several pages back about breaking a throttle cable and have to wait an extended amount of time for a replacement. For what it's worth I ordered a spare throttle and clutch cable from bike bandit on the night of 10/31. It arrived today. So in the case of not needing it right a way that's totally reasonable I think. A little less than $90 for both. Both made in Spain surprisingly. Under my seat they will be kept.
