CT70 Help No Power

Problem shortly came about after I fixed a hole in the float that was causing overflow gas out the carb. Anyway now the bike does not have any power. It starts fine idles fine but I cant even ride it up my driveway without having it pined in 1st and walking besides it when before I could get up my driveway in second no problem also, it sometimes cuts out. Ive checked spark and fuel and its ok. The only think I can think of is the ignition, but Im not to familiar with points ignitions. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks

This isn't a dig at your mechanical skills, BUT, when that kind of thing happens to me I go back and revisit everything that I have touched or was even close to.

Bumping wires, pinching hoses, not reconnecting cables correctly....I have done all of those. The bike on the other hand has never broken all by itself during the time I was 'fixing' it.

New float? The float level is prolly too low... Just a guess from way out here.
Current rides: DR650, CT90.

Riding whatever runs, wherever I want.

Captain Yesterday ... is it smoking? did you pull the plug and look/sniff it? if you touched the carb then why would you think ignition? how does modifying the float affect timing or spark? based on what you've shared I'd go back and revisit the float.
