How is the riding down there? I was thinking for riding from Austin, TX to New Orleans on gravel and alphabet highways this February. I understand it is flat but that does not mean it is not pretty or have a lot of history. Can you recommend any place to see, eat or ride?

There aint much between Austin and the Lake Charles area, but from there you could take the north route across and cross the river at Natchez or St Francisville, which will bring you out close to my place, or the south route through the the marsh and swamp. Lot's of history either way, and you'll be in Louisiana, there's always something good to eat almost anywhere. Holler at me when you come, I'll show you some stuff!

I just called the number. I had no idea it was that organized, or that they tell you where it was banded. Neat!

Yep, send the info in, and they'll send you a certificate with all the banding info, where, when, approximate age when banded, etc.

Two shots this morning....

Killed in south Mississippi, banded in Saskatchewan while too young to fly. Bird was seven years old!!!

They are on the wall!!

Here are a couple from back in December. We were goose hunting on some land I own on the Swan River a few miles from Bigfork, MT, great waterfowl spot. I didn't shoot at these ducks, we were hoping for a shot at someting bigger:

A short time later these guys came by. I had my girlfriend and her son with me and he took a coupld of shots as they went by, but missed. We weren't over decoys so it was a one-shot deal. Fun morning though.

Nice! That's the best tailgate I've ever seen for a bird picture.

Damn. I wish I saw this earlier. I'm on my way back to Austin after visiting Venice, NO and St. Francisville.

As you said great history and even better food!
