I have a 2008 HD 200 with 5600 miles it is a great scooter.
Don't confuse Carter Brothers with SYM. It doesn't look real good for Carter Brothers, but I am hoping they make it though this. I am sure there are a lot of good folks that worked there. As for SYM I hope they remain committed to the US market. If Carter Brothers doesn't pick SYM again, maybe the Canadian distributer will pick up the US market. I guess we will know in time. |

I would not worry too much if I was SYM owner. I currently own a Daelim and Isuzu, both of which have left the US market and I have been able to get parts without to much hassle. And I imagine SYM sold in much larger #'s than Daelim.
I hate what is happening to the power sports market during this recession. Logic would say that scooter sales would be able to hold their own in a depressed economy.

Vehicle that have never been sold...don't a have a title. It just means you need to do your own DMV paperwork.

It's the not knowing
I'm a happy owner of a SYM Symba. Like some others have said, SYM has a big enough presence around the world that I'm not worried in the long run about parts. It's the short term that is problematic. It's this funny in-between time we are in. Is SYM going to stay in the American market? If so, is Carter Bros going to be able to manage it? Or, is SYM fed up and looking for a new suitor? It's all the unknowns that I don't like. Oh well, I have nearly 4000 miles on my SYMBA and expect to put a lot more miles on my wee chariot.

FYI... SYM just got approval from California's CARB emissions process that allows them to sell the Symba in CA and several other CARB dependent states. Not that Carter is going to do much with it.

That really sucks, I liked their bigger scooters and their passport clone. I would like to find the jerk who did this.

That's true, it probably was an inside job, but it does still suck that some idiot had to ruin a company that they were involved in for what ever reason, and SYM made some pretty good scoots here. |

Whoopsie! From the newspaper's link above:"Carter Brothers had no sprinkler system and, therefore, was not fire code compliant."
Looks like the local fire department wasn't up on their inspections/
