my .02 on CVTs. I drove a rental Murano a few years ago in heavy Houston traffic and it was great, just fed it tiny throttle inputs, hardly had to touch the brakes, it always was in the right "gear".
The downside, I talked to a friend of my daughter who worked in a transmission shop, the replacement belt was over $800 by itself. This info is a few years old, so they could be less expensive and more durable. It would be interesting for someone with a high mileage CVT vehicle to chime in.

Our Patriot that we also bought with the Cash for Clunkers, traded in a very tired and worn out Jeep Cherokee.
No issues at all, about 27 MPG over all and slightly larger inside than the Cherokee. The CVT works great and a lifetime warrenty.

We don't get those life time warranties up here in Canada. We get a five year/100k Kilometres - which is around a 60k miles warranty. Good luck to all you happy new owners.

They no longer offer a lifetime warranty. Currently it's 3 YR/ 36k mile comprehensive, and 5 yr / 100,000 mile powertrain.
We almost didn't get this- believe it or not, e had one that was going to be brought in for us from another dealer, but it got sold- and then suddenly they were selling out- at least in certain colors and trim levels in this area. I was running the locator at Jeep.com, and you could see inventories dropping with each refresh. We just got back in from "cruisin'" for a burger and shake at a local shake shack- and I gotta tell ya- I like this ride. |

What is a "Latitude Edition"? I've only heard of the Sport, North or the Limited.

As a 2010.5 release, they offered a multitude of popular features as package 26b, and reduced the base cot. I'll cut and paste specs in a sec (I'm on a phone texting)

This was cut and pasted from the window sticker of the one we originally had on "lockdown"- until it got sold. Our current one is the same, with two exceptions: the interior color, and we do not have Sirius.

Looks like a similarly equipped Subaru would come in close to the MSRP of the 4x4 Patriot as optioned out above. blk-betty screwed with this post 09-01-2010 at 07:41 PM |

I checked out Foresters, and it seemed to come in higher.
I bought it for less than shown, and the interest rate was sweet. Bottom line, though- is the Jeep really really tickles our shorthairs. I look at it, and love it. I wish I had the jack to get another one- but I'll be back in the saddle of my ol' '99 Subaru this winter. We bought the Jeep for my wife. |

Wifey came home tonight with a new Patriot (6k miles) to drive while they fix her company car. We'll have it for week. First drive, I was pleasantly surprised.
Will report more over the next few days. First note: it appears to be an automatic, NOT a CVT. Will know tomorrow. Auto/manual shifting seemed to work well. Could be just a very clever computer, but in a 7 minute drive it acted like a real automatic.
