Jackrabbit, We kinda quit during the winter time but some have talked about getting together again. Dual Sport huh ? You should come to the Hells Canyon get together in Enterprize, OR this weekend 16th-19th. Some of us from WW are going to it. I hope to ride over Fri am with 1911fan. rj

The enterprise event looks good, but this weekend is booked. I'll keep checking this thread for upcoming plans. Any suggestions for some nice ww area dirt roads?

Jackrabbit - There are several dirt roads in the area, depending on what you are looking for. My personal preferences:

1. Lincton Mountain Road - From the Walla Walla River road up to tollgate, dirt/gravel all the way to the top. I always stop at the store and get a snack before heading down. You can come back down Lincton or head down Basket mountain road (Much more dirt, might still be kind of muddy this time of year)
2. Government mountain road - You can ride all the way up to the top of tiger canyon, its a longer ride, lots of rocks. Probably still snowed in right now, but I could be wrong. There are two roads you can turn off on that will take you back down to the Walla Walla valley, both the turn off are mostly dirt and can get very muddy if it rains.
3. Pikes peak/Morman grade - I heard this is clear of snow now, you can make the loop, I usually go up pikes and down Mormon grade. I reccomend a riding buddy because a fair amount of it does not have cell coverage.
4. Walla Walla River trails/Harris park - Single track trails open to motorcycles, horses, and hikers. Intermediate skill required on these trails, lots of fun. I haven't road these trails several years (Dual sport bike is so much more fun!) but from what I have heard its still challenging.

I am thinking about taking the street bike out on 4th of July weekend and go up and over tollgate, Elgin, La-Grande, and then up and over the pass and get lunch and gas at the Casino if anyone is interested.

I want to put this out for public consumption.

This year is the 4th Annual Motorcycle Roundup. The weekend after the 4th of July so this year, July 8-10.

I started this 4 years ago with a buddy from Payette, ID - Griff - as an annual get together. First two years were campouts at Starkey. Last year we moved it to Kamiah. This year we're going to the Log House RV Park in Enterprise. Griff isn't . able to participate this year, but we're going forward with a modified plan. Unlike past years, no registration. Come on down, camp, ride, toss some money into the pot for food. I plan on going down Thursday. No organized rides, just go out with like minded folks and do your thing .

Past years have been mainly cruisers, but this is not a bike specific event. Anyone, any bike is welcome. In past years we've had folks from WW, Payette/Ontario, Lewston/Clarkston.

No reservations necessary, unlless you want an RV site. Contact Brian at Log House if you do.

So... Is there any interest?

Any of you Walla Walla guys know if Mark stocks Mefo's for a KLR?

I was headed to Enterprise for the Rally and my new Kenda went south.
I made it as far as my Dads place in Athena.
Mark is an old friend of David my brother and I was hoping he can help me out with a tire.

I don't think Mark stocks Mefo's ...
Toms Cycle might - I am pretty certain they have more tires in stock then Mark.
Also, I have a front and rear tire left over from my KLR you are welcome to for free. The tire only has about 30% life left in it, I think its a BF trail wing and I am certain its got some miles left in it.

I've posted a couple ride reports that you can look at under my signature. Both the Troy and Dayton trip from Walla Walla are fun. Let's figure out a weekend that works and I'll tag along.

As promised here are a few pictures of the V Strom. Saturday I ended up going over to Joseph and walked through the car show. After that I rode the Wallowa Mountain Loop and the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway. I ran into some serious weather in Baker City and it took until Cabbage Hill to get out of the rain. Total miles for the day = 410

I'm headed over to HC Rally thur am & I had offered 1911fan to stay at my place and we would ride over together. But he won't be in till Fri night late I believe. So would anyone else in WW be able to let him spent the night? Nice chap and I don't think he bites. Otherwise maybe some of you could get together with him for a late night dinner and suggest reasonable motels for him ????? G Nortoni mentioned he would like to get together with him for din & a visit.
Chaos, you going to strom it over to HC this weekend? I'm going on my Versys with bald tires. I Should be fun to watch in the snow and mud. rj

I'm headed out to Michigan tomorrow at O'Yawn:30 so won't be around. If I was, I'd be headed for the Enterprise event. If no one can put him up, I'd suggest the Capri Motel on Melrose. It looks decent, and I've talked to at least one person who said the rooms aren't bad. Probably a lot cheaper than one of the chains. I'd steer clear of the WW Vineyard Inn. That's where they were cooking meth.
