Memories.....
this is like what was given to me by the neighbor lady after I packed her up to move from Anchorage to BC, Canada. Got my first stink finger in one like this. Was also the first engine I rebuilt, old F head.

Great. Just what I need. Another thread on ADV about cool shit that I really dig.
I got it bad for an older Willys pickup. I admire the older powertrains, but they just won't cut it for "real world" driving on the highway. I'd like (someday) to get a recoverable derelict and throw a Toyota Tundra or Nissan Titan driveline under it. This might sound odd... but how are they do drive for taller guys? I figure there's plenty of headroom, but how's the leg room?

Ok, with Dorkpunch and "Bought Grandpa's" truck, I felt i should make an attempt on getting my Willys running. Well, actually, it does sorta run, but it sure don't stop. So out with the old and in with the new.

Hmm, the new little bracket it too short and the u shaped one is also wrong. It only took 3 months to sort it out that I had a brake kit for a CJ!
I had to buy a die grinder to remove a welded plate that held the old master one.![]() Sorry for the crappy shot. Here you can see what two hours of annoying the neighbors got me. ![]() I left a bit of the plate since the frame is open and just below the front of the plate is the left spring perch and thought it may need the support.

You can see by the eariler photo of the old master the piece of metal I cut out. New bracket in place and spritzed some Hunter Green on the new master. Seemed fitting since my truck used to be Greenwood Green and Seafoam green.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Gotta wait a few days for the paint to dry so I can bench bleed it and install it. Then I've got to make up some brake lines and go through the brakes. Oh boy, here we go.....

Brake lines nice and straight...
![]() Ended up looking like this... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still have to place a heat shield for the lines and master, add some mounting clips, finish bleeding and throw a battery in it so I can see if after 12 years, it can move under it's own power.

I can't believe it's been a year already, but it's come 'round again. the Willys America Open House. Nope, didn't ride.
![]() ![]() Since I had a tight schedule for the day, didn't get out of the car for pictures. ![]() ![]() ![]() Beautiful country roads, made for riding. ![]() ![]() Finally here.

This tow truck seems to have made it out here instead of in the line up last year.
![]() Of course the military is in attendence. ![]() Sorry for the date stamped pictures as my camera has been flaky and had to use the wife's camera and she likes the stamp. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

This pickup has gotten a bit further than last year.
![]() ![]() My wife fell in love with this one. I told her ours could look like that and she said, "Let's do that". Words I thought I'd never hear.![]() ![]() Some people were interested in these, so I took a few more shots. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My oldest daughter loves to read and this one reminded me of her.

We pretty much had to leave after lunch and the raffle. Someone at our table won a case of wine. He was kind enough to pass one out to each couple at the table. Very nice of him.
![]() I didn't leave empty handed, well, maybe $200 less any road. Guess I'll be busy. ![]() Good bye until next year W/A, maybe I'll actually be able to drive my truck. ![]()
