I know most of you are american but didnt realise you didnt get the V till after us(normally you get them before as your a much larger market), as for colour options, you always seem to get the colours we like and vice versa and cheers for the compliment on colour

I don't think our friendly neighbors in the Great White Nort' got them either.

I think the silver looks great BTW.

Not mine, but, I flew to florida and rode this back to Ky. for a friend. Great bike !
Plenty of power , handles well. In the flat riding areas I thought the pegs should be lowered for more legroom, the last day when I got to the mountains and the riding was more fun, I didn't notice the lack of legroom.

looks alright that, could of done with a set of those and some knobblies for my ride home the other night.

On that note does anyone know what semi off road tyres fit the V in the proper sizes? Just a 90/10 or 80/20 tarmac/dirt split woudl be ideal(so I can still show up my bro on his 990adv)

well after looking around seems the only two tyres for dual purpose in the right sizes are Pirelli scorpion trail and Avon distanzia's. Second set of wheels time me thinks and then have all bases covered

The Avons seem to get good reviews on the forums. As do the Pirellis, but they get less mileage.

Tell me you werent riding out on the roads in that weather, or was it just the pictured part that was that snowy?

Theres good infor on the MT60 option here;

That was just the last run upto my garage but yes there was snow similar to that on all the side roads, main roads were fairly churned up and quite easy to pass, plenty of fun out of junctions as you knew it was going to spin up so took it as machine control lessons ie larking around a bit as there was very little traffic(most people had gone home at lunch, the city was gridlock at midday, took us an hour to go 2 miles coming back from a callout).
Only got semi stuck at one point turning off a mainish road iinto the last side road to mine when a pedestrian stepped out making me stop on a slope and telling me the bike should be home not in the snow....yes he was told I was almost there till he stepped out......gave me a push

May I ask what the recipie was to come up with the spoked rims?

Approx cost, BS factor, etc?

Nice end result. But I heard it's a spendy mod.

Purchased from Woodys Wheel Works via Rad hubs . . . engineered and tested by RAD/Woodys (link below):
I ordered the best of everything (including sealed for tubeless tires option).
They mount up perfectly right out of the box . . . No modifications. Approx list = $1,900

Still . . . Much less money than a 800GS or Tiger 800.

I'm thinking of getting a Versys on a budget. If I were to find an older one, that is mostly stock, are there and must-do mods I should think about? I've heard about the 16t sprocket but I just plan on commuting and having fun close to home. It seems like a stock one will suit my needs pretty well but I've said that before

Stock gearing is fine. YMMV.

IMO the only must do mod is suspension upgrades. Unless you count heated grips, which are a must do mod for me on any bike that didn't come with them.
