FWIW the '05~'06 GSX-R1000 are the same. Man I loved my '06........for about 50 miles then it was a torture rack. The seat was the worst thing this side of a DRZ400 The only thing fun about it at a racetrack was the straight away. I never could bet mine to turn like a 600 and when you pulled the trigger off the turn you best be up on the meat of the rear tire.
how tall are you?

riding is a strenuous workout...sitting in any one position for long periods is not what the human body is designed for.

i wouldn't track that bike without a full dose of woodcraft/vortex case covers and sliders. they mean the difference between a shattered/leaking engine and continuing on with your day at the track.

I do have frame sliders, I am going to relax my pace a bit as I am not taking my race bike, which at the moment needs maintenance. I am taking this one only because I booked my day & dont want to loose it.

That being said, case covers are additional piece of mind.

The 06+ GSXR is on my list of bikes I would like to have. A friend of mine rides an 06 and he goes on poker runs all the time and he loves it. I too think they are great looking bikes.

Right now I ride a 98 Suzuki Bandit 1200S. This bike seriously hauls some major a*&! Full Micron system with a stage 1 carb kit. You have to hold on that's for sure.

Stock trim the 06 1k will make you forget your bandit in a heartbeat, hell it will make you forget any bike you have ridden

Well thought I might add my thoughts to ( The GSX-R Appreciation thread ) back in 1985 was the first time I had ever been tempted to stray from my strictly tunnel visioned love of dirt bikes and dabble with the dark side of motorcycling, ROAD bikes.

It was the release of the 1985 GSX-R 750 that caught my eye like no other road bike before it could, It was the very first road bike that I wanted to own, as it looked like it was a genuine race bike with lights, I loved the look of that thing back then.

It was the begining of 100% no compromise sports bikes, The funny thing is I never ended up buying one or any other no compromise sports bike for that matter, but it was the original GSX-R that eventualy opened my mind to the joys of road bikes.

I had an '03 GSX-R1000 and in my entire 51 years on this planet, I have never been on any motorized two or four wheel vehicle that had the acceleration, thrust and top speed this bike had. It made the scenery blur while accelerating. Absolutely incredible power. I found that it had the power to turn middle-age, conservative riders into maniacs. Incredible wheelies too. As far as thrust, it accelerated stronger than any airplane I have ever been on as well. Simply amazing but way too much bike for the street. The downside was any ride over an hour had to be followed by a trip to my chiropractor - oh, the joys of middle-age!

I just picked up my FIRST GSXR last weekend.....a cherry little 06 750 with 2300 miles.

I even had to spend an hour removing all the warnings stickers

Having owned a few sport type bikes before this Katana600(ok I know...but it was my first with PLASTICS )>TLR1000R>CBR1100XX>BMWK1200S>Hayabusa>R1 prior to this, I can say this bike is the hardest pulling & lightest feeling of all the bikes I've ever owned. I can't wait to get it on VIR and CMP

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Actually the no fairings makes for very easy modding, which I keep doing very frequently

Here is my race bike. Me & her dance really well
