At least they had a good choice of wheel color combination back then

These days the only color available is BLACK & same the shitty 3 spoke wheels.

I haven't really paid attention to the details of sport bikes since I quit racing, but my buddy bought a crashed '06 GSXR600 to build into a track bike and it is pretty impressive! It's been fun marveling at all the cool little details while it sits at my house, stacked trans, exhaust valve, ram air, giant throttle bodies, extremely thin walled frame, radial brakes, long braced swingarm, etc, etc. It's getting close, just need some body work. It will be great fun to see how it goes against my SV1000. Knowing my buddy, even though he hasn't been on a track in almost 20 years, it will go fast!!

You say that until you remember cleaning your rims every few days or having them basically be black

My yellow rims on the F3 were a huge pain in the ass.

Its really not that hard to clean. My 03 SV1000 had silver wheels & while the dirt was noticeable when dirty, when cleaned they cleaned easy & looked the part. Any wheel with a good quality powder coat will clean easy, regardless of color.

"when cleaned"

since "it looks dirty" is how i decide when to clean my bike, it makes a difference whether "it looks dirty" after one ride, ten rides, or ten MONTHS of riding.

i couldn't manage with white wheels.

Arshish, how come you never make it to the ear on tuesdays?

I don't think I have pictures of it anymore, but my first streetbike was a 1986 GSXR750. I've ridden a few other generations of GSXR's, but nothing ever gave me the same feeling as that old dinosaur. It was just so pure......... minimal gauges, a lot of engine in not much frame (and on not much tire!), the mechanical clatter typical of the old oil-boilers........ They certainly have character!

Not possible for me, I work 60 miles south of Central NJ in PA & for me to get to NYC from PA would be a nightmare.

We convinced a random GSXR1000 owner to join us at CADVR.

Then bradatlarge buggered it.

It was well appreciated by all.

I loved my 2003 GSXR1000 for 68,000 miles, and then sold it.

It was time to move on, but in retrospect, perhaps not. Probably the best bike I ever owned.
