The only good pics in this thread are the ones with Bonnie in them.

I'm glad you two were able to sneak out for a ride!

I had heard that tale before myself , which is why I wanted to get the heck out of there before the rains came!

Glad you had a nice time. Just returned from CO and most of the routes I was trying were soaking wet and slicker than grease.

Colorado sucks. They should totally pave the whole thing.

Paved!!

Yeah, that would be classic.

I love the place. It is just funny when you are trying to and wonder how long before you end up on your head! There was a route I was on just north of Silverton that when I stopped and put my foot down it was like being on ice. It could have been a cartoon clip. Thank goodness for the trees close by to grab on to!

No kvetching about the rain. This is, by far, the greenist I've ever seen Colorado this late in the summer. As dry as it's been for the past few years, the trees and grasses need this kind of moisture to get healthy again.

Now if the damned pine beetles would just go away.

Yep, if it helps the beetles go bye bye then that is perfect. I wish I had more than a week to ride and could have waited out the rain for a better day.

Until next time. And for the OP - thanks for the pictures.

Where's this gate located?

"We slabbed out of town up Poncha Pass to a little road that Bonnie had never been on; thought I'd show her someplace new. "

I was in Salida in June and may be back in Sept and might like to find this place. Where's this gate loacted or is it a big secret?

No secret. I just don't know the road name or #. If you are heading south on 285, go over Poncha Pass, and it's about 6 miles further south, on the right side. It's just a tiny gate, with a "Please close gate" sign.
