Rick,
So it is more an issue of getting better tools for the job and replacing the original bolts. Keep us all posted with the result. Good luck.

Yes, I ended up taking it to a pro, after the left sprocket didn't seat in the divet properly and I got my cam timing all messed up when the left sprocket just spun. I was worried I had bent a valve, as it took a lot of force to rotate the engine in 6th gear. But my indep. wrench did a leakdown and said it was fine. Runs and sounds fine too 3k miles later. However, it's starting to blow smoke on startup now, which has me worried. This was a HUGE fuss for not as much improvement as I was expecting. Might be right for others, but I wouldn't spend this kind of money or effort again.

Rick,
It is not good that it was not a trouble free install and that there was extra expense. I guess due to the trouble you may not feel so good about the result. Only 3 customers have not been as happy as the rest with the result but depends on expectations. Thanks for the feedback.

Just installed my sprockets
Just installed my sprockets on my '02 1150 GS, I am a skilled at wrenching so the job ahead didn't seem to bad, I printed off Lennies install instructions and followed them.
The job went very well, hardest part is slipping the chain off old sprocket. Also getting my big fat fingers in there I love what it did to the power band, dropped it down and I like it very much. Bike seems to run a little smoother but could be in my head maybe. Quality of the Lennies sprockets are the best!! Job well done Lennie. IMHO it is worth the money and once ordered they came to my door in 8 business days, also Lennie packages them to perfection for shipping. If on the fence about doing this mod, do it!! |
