Camden AR

The company I work for is shutting down our plant here. I may have an opportunity to relocate to a site in Camden if I pursue it.

Anything you local guys can tell me about the area would be a big help, I've never been there.
Pros? Cons? Bad? Good?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

there is some good riding over there, not as good as it is here in NWA

It will put you in abt the middle of the state with access to east or west of some of the best riding anywhere...you will probably like it so c'mon.

Thanks Doc!

I know it's a beautiful area, I guess I am wondering about the town itself. I know the people are nice/friendly. At least that's what I am told.

I think being a desert dweller the last 30 years, I'm most worried about the brutal humidity in the summer...

Disclaimer: I've only passed through the town a half dozen times, and have done a little research on it because I enjoy that sort of thing (civil war history, and river towns). None of my information is confirmed. It is simply a collection of information I have attained from the highway and the internet.

It's a decent enough area, being a river town and having some Civil War history. However, the poverty level is pretty high, the median income is well below the national average, the population is on a steady decline, industry has declined over the past 15 years, etc.

With all the above, one would think it influences the school system, crime rate, property values, etc. I would have strong concerns about moving there for a job. With that said, your company may be one that is not affected by the local economy.

Exactly the info I'm hoping for, thanks guys!!

Please keep it coming. Anything you can think of. Bad or good.

Yeah, I dunno.
I was born and raised to the age of almost 12 in WV, so still kind of a country boy, but I'm an honorary NMexican now.

Thanks man. 24 years for me, 10 for Grizzzly. Hell, Grizzz might even be happy. Me? I'm terrified.

The good news? In a few months, I'll have time to roof the house and the sheds. The bad news? I won't have the money to do it.

Either one of us could apply for positions in Camden and would very likely get an interview and a trip out to have a look see. I probably will, I dunno.

Regardless, meh... It'll all shake out ok.

Not sure where Camdunn is located. You might try posting in the AK forum.
