weekend warriors...
Another Trials competition at Diamond LakeSUNDAY... anybody going? I may ride up taking a back road... (Fertile Valley/Tremain/Tree Top/Smith Rd) and providing I'm not lost, will be there around 10 a.m. Sounds extremely easy to get to via Hwy Routes.
Lamotovita -- you are competing I presume?

One year, two bikes
I'll have my first anniversary as a rider on October 1st. Bought a '02 Dakar from a super fellow up in Newport. I thought I'd never get the hang of it at first, and had three slow-speed drops (two at stop signs - shudder!) just learning how to get my feet in the right place at the right time. Things slowly got better, and I think that Westfest in Darby, MT, was the turning point. Nanc came with me and we made a lot of new friends and I was able to go on a couple fun rides with them. Nanc learned that some very nice ladies enjoy riding. She even took the first ride of her life there!
So three weeks ago, I fly down to Boise and ride back with a nice shiny blue R1150Rt, hoping that the two of us can get into riding together. So far, she has trusted me with one ride behind me, and promised more in the future. To be honest, at first I thought the RT was superb on the road, but a bit of a pig while riding in town. Six hundred pounds is a lot of bike for an old fart! But things are coming along pretty well now. Stop and go traffic is getting easier to manage, and smooth shifting is showing up. But the braking still needs some finesse. The best thing about riding the RT is that it has shown me just how agile a dualsport can be. I'm suddenly able to handle the Dakar like it was 200 lbs lighter! Well I guess it is, compared to the RT. At any rate, I can't imagine getting rid of either one at this point. Now all I have to do is spend more time on both; getting better on the pegs on "Precious" and doing some more road miles on "Blue". Hopefully with Nanc riding behind me. p.s. sold my truck...two wheels are more fun!

I don't know if I'll go or not. I still don't have the Superbug
back, it's waiting on parts. I could take my 650 but lost on it isn't as much fun as lost on the Superbug .I can't find the link for trials website, could one of you post it?

Mt Spokane on Saturday
Nanc and I met up with some of our Beemer buddies at the Wandermere Starbucks. We get together every Saturday around 9 a.m., so come join us. The weather was initially wet and foggy. but by the time the coffee was gone the roads were beginning to dry up and the temps were perfect for a ride.

Mt. Spokane continued
Four of us decided to ride to the top of Mt Spokane. Jurgen rode his 1150 GS, Deb was riding her 1000RR and Kim wa on her RS. I had the 650GS Dakar. This is really a fun, twisty little road with little traffic this time of the year. Kim and I went to the top, while the other two went down to the ski area.
Here's a pic of Jurgen, Kim, and Deb at the big parking lot where we met up again.

Mt. Spokane final
Jurgen gave us some pointers on how to do the corners better, and we set off back down the mountain. Think our times down increased substantially thanks to the pointers. I'm glad I took the Dakar instead of the RT or I never would have been able to keep up with them! The RT is still a lot of bike for me to handle at speed in the twisties.
Last week, Jurgen, Mike, Nanc and I had ridden to 49 Deg. North, then back home via Flowery Trail Road to Usk, then back to Spokane. I rode the R1150Rt that time and it is a sweetie on those sweepers.

Nice ride Dale... so, what were the tips in the corners
aside from standing on the pegs?I don't suppose the Beemer crowd would be none to pleased that a lowly Kawi showed up to ride with you... but HA that's not stopped me before!!!

See you Saturday!
Hey, flower girl, don't be shy! See you on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and I'll let Jurgen explain his cornering secrets to you personally.
