Bike night put on by the pirates. Taken with BB Bold

I went up to the WMRS rally a few days early and posted a few pics from my Droid phone. I got a Droid app (picpush) that automatically uploads photos direct to my Smugmug account. A couple people mentioned that they decided to get off the fence and come to WMRS after seeing the pics.

Left pic was taken with Droid, right pic taken with a Minolta 5D digital SLR.

It looks like the Droid photos can use some color balancing but otherwise are good enough for posting.

Interestingly,
I just read of a new digital camera with a "toy camera" setting.....

I remember seeing a site devoted to artsy pictures taken with cheap and toy cameras.

Coolest "artsy" images I ever took was with a Ricoh 35mm pocket camera with a "panoramic" feature. The internals would switch to a wide angle lens, then drop shutters in place to mask out the upper and lower thirds of the film. I glued the shutters open and took pictures during the "magical hour" of sunrise or sunset, and got some GREAT vigneting that resulted in beautiful images.

The cool thing about cell phone pics is not that you forgot to bring your camera, but that you have it wherever you wouldn't otherwise have brought your camera.
