Hi Guys, and thanks for the interest..

No progress since the last pics as Ive had a family issue to deal with that has taken a fair bit of effort. Dad had a short but tough battle with intestinal/bowel cancer which he unfortunately lost in late march. Added to this I also lost my best mate of over 10 years - (my Rotti Chilli) to cancer as well about a week later. As such I havent done a lot on the tank, but its still on the to do list.
At this stage I dont think it'll be moulded for 3-4 months as im doing a cancer charity ride from the 16/05/11 for about a month. Once im back i'll make a couple of parts for testing and then if theyre any good I'll send them out to those who have made contact. (Thanks guys for the support).

One thing I have to say is I have the safari tanks on the 950 atm and the fuel weight is carried much further forward then I would like. The rear tank would eliminate this with the OEM tanks IMO, balancing the bike when loaded with fuel. Seems those KTM engineers knew their stuff..... Possibly the most brilliant rallye/adventure bike ever produced ????

I'll post more when I have a product.

sorry bout your loss.

apologies if i sound insensitive, but i still look forward to seeing a fully functional set of rally replica tanks ASAP. You have put in an amazing amount of work into this project already.

might i ask what kinda price we might be looking at for the twin setup ? sorry if i missed it if you've already mentioned it somewhere in the thread. I am beginning to get interested in them.

Have you noticed the feedback on Neduro's advtank where some guys have had the lower part of the tank getting hit by the swing arm due to bending of the top mounts. BillyD made a nice bracket to solve this issue on his aux tank. Have you considered some kind of bracket/support at the lower part of your aux-tanks ? Apologies once again if this was already mentioned earlier in the thread.

I'm liking the relocation of the fill cap.,, nice good thinking.
Looks like the install will require the upper subframe to be parted? I like it, keeps everything tucked in nicely.

Hi Vicks,

No problems and no offence taken. The tank will get finished and it'll be just as soon as I finish my part of the ride for MAC, im doing the Perth-Darwin leg, http://www.motorcyclingagainstcancer.org.au

The tank wont need bracing as its basically triangular in shape and a 1 piece part that fits thru the subframe, secures to the passenger peg mounts as well as having the rear crossover over the subframe. The mock up has been fitted to the bike and rear wheel/swingarm moved thru its full range of movement to make sure there is plenty of clearance. So yep it fits well and is secure. Cost is still to be finalised and it'll depend on if its purchased with the CF bashie as a package or by itself.

1stiski - The filler cap is in its most logical place for filling with the bike on its side stand (highest point). I was very tempted to just fix the flange to the tank face but for an extra day I recessed it. Its definately worth it tho - looks very finished an professional.

V2 - not sure about the SE subframe or shock clearance. Its a very different bike tho - the safari replacement seems a better and more cost effective option IMO - thats if I had one...

Thanks for the kind words guys - I'll be back onto this shortly as at the end of the day I want one.

ADVtank.com?

Looks like some really nice stuff here, but this is 2.2 gallons and already exists, bolts on even:

I've had great luck with mine and love the 2-into-1 sound, and power, too.
