AZ- Turkey Creek to DeSoto Mine

4Play, Refokus and Electrician Ed joined me for a ride through Turkey Creek, DeSoto Mine and on to Crown King. The weather at the stage outside Bumblebee was cold and we contemplated jackets. (It must have been 60*! In AZ we start breaking up the furniture for firewood when it drops below 60*) Naw! We'll warm up quickly. And we did.

My 350 XCFW, 4Play WRR 306, Refokus XCFW 2Fiddy, and Electrician Ed on the big bike, a CRF 450.

Once in the wash this was a frequent occurrence. 4Play

Electrician Ed

Views were spectacular all day! EE even wore antlers for the ride!

Halfway through the Creek we found this rider on a 690 Enduro, looking for his buddies on 1200 GS's! We smiled and said they had better have skills to get those BB's through there. He said they were instructors and knew what they were getting into. We wished him luck and were on our way.

Refokus made it all look easy with his new Rekluse. EE navigating a tricky step up ledge coming out of the creek. A little bird said 4Play may have taken a swim here 2 weeks ago, but there were no pics, so it didn't happen.

Wasting no time!

Once we got to Cleator, we jogged up Crown King Rd. to the start of DeSoto Mine rd. EE was so fast he's just a blur, or my photog skills suck. I'll let you decide.

Refokus heading up.

The guys left me in their dust and I came around a corner and found the DeSoto Mine entrance.

I looked around to see where they went and saw them on top of this steep little hill. Is that really the trail?

I conned 4Play into riding down and back up so that I could get the picture.

This was the backside of the mountain we had just come down. Refokus let me ride his new Rekluse up and down a couple of times. Fun stuff! This is where DeSoto Mine rd., Bull Run and 89 all merge.

From there it was a fast ride back down to CK rd and to the Mill for lunch.

For the return we decided to loop around the mtn and head down Senator, where we found our connector back to the 89.
This section of Senator is still pretty rough after the storms last fall. 4Play playing through.

EE

Refokus

This connector was a hoot. Smooth 2Track with roller coaster hill!

89 back to DeSoto Mine rd. was too much fun, so no pics were taken. Then we had to climb that steep backside up to the mine. Refokus

4Play having a ball.

Refokus descending the last steep section.

From there it was near race pace through Turkey Creek and back to the trucks. Electrician Ed said he was ready to ride the loop again!!

That was a hoot boys!

Well I'm glad this wasn't today because I was stuck for 4 hours with the kid and his stupid dancing.

If I could have sneaked out to ride I wouldda. This looks like a real fun ride.

That stupid dancing will eventually make Him enough money to take care of Dad in his old age

Rekluse for Brad? Unfair advantage. Better than sliced bread or canned beer

Yeah, the rekluse needed some adjusting along the way but when it's working right it makes everything seem so much easier. I was thinking of you Tom when we were on Senator and the nasty washed out area.

This was a really fun day. The hill climbs on the back side of Desoto seem a lot steeper than they used to be. It was twist the throttle and don't let up until you were on the top. Several small ledges to navigate over or around as you are climbing. Great Ride. I have a few phone picks I will see if I can get them loaded up today.

It's where the start of the Bradshaw trail is on Senator. Instead of taking the Bradshaw you take the road to the left. It was a fun section

Yep, like Refokus said, it's 9222C. It starts right where the Bradshaw comes out on Senator. You follow it and it tees into 89. Follow that back to 202 and DeSoto.

Cool, I always wondered where that went. Lower Bradshaw and East Tuscumbia are such fun trails that I've never gotten past the "wondering" stage though.

A few more photos

I didn't get too many pictures of this ride since no one wanted to ride slow so I could get in front of them, but I managed a few.

4Play climbing the first short hill out of the creak at the beginning of the ride. This little hill looks easy but it's really tough when you are bouncing off of soft ball sized baby heads leading up to it.

Slowred as smooth as always

EE was plowing up the slope when all of a sudden he decides to ride up the edge. This is not the easiest line.

4Play up another hill and to the top

I have a couple of video clips of this hill that I will have to put up on youtube and post.

Fun day riding these hills and trails.
