The road down to the boat ramp has been 'improved' since my last visit.

Still fun but. it was more fun in it's unmaintained condition.

Inside the mind of government...they fixed not only the road but also the ramps themselves. Before it would have been impossible to actually access this with a trailer and now that they've gone through all the trouble to 'fix' them.....they've blocked them off so you can't use 'em.

The approaches were washed out and the slabs were just sicking up in the air...now it's all nice and smooth but you can't get to 'em.

Look how pretty and clear the water is.

I've been here at 'full pond' and these were completely under water.

These corners used to bermed up pretty good...looks like it could happen again....if given time.

Going out towards the South gate.....the only water crossing is now optional.

The South road is much smoother than the North one.....here's what you're looking for if wanting to enter from down there.

I looped back around to the truck on pavement.....with a plan to hit Bad Creek after lunch.

These shacks are all along the same road as the South entrance.

What Bad Creek lacks in scenery vs. Horse Pastures it makes up for in a more 'natural' road surface.

Lots of dead ends though...still fun little out-n-backs.

There's a number of hunting camps on those dead ends....all were vacant yesterday.

I have both good and bad news to report.

First the bad news.....the road down to the water is gated.

Looking across to Jumping Off Rock....it's atop that ridge across the lake.

I imagine that it could get pretty slick back here when it's raining....prolly not a good place for street tires.

More gates and camp sites.

Not easy to make out in my blurry riding pics but....

Both HP and BC are loaded with anti-erosion humps. Plenty of opportunity for suspension testing.

Are you ready for the good news?

Gate open that goes all the way through to Gorges St. Park in NC!!

I seen a bear here on the Right side of the road...but wasn't fast enough on the draw.

It was about 11 miles from that gate to Gorges SP and it was a lot sloppier and more rugged with baby head rocks etc. Nothing too technical, just enough to make it fun :

It crossed a hiking trail(s)
