Always great stuff knybanjo. I love these old truss bridges and have many times thought about a ride report with as many as I might be able to get to in a few days. There’s still a few around but in out of the way places.

I grew up in that area and this looks like a house that had zebras, emus, peacocks, etc.

Thanks, I can't believe that I'd never noticed that before but I bet it's well camouflaged with leaves in summer.

Yep, that's the place! I haven't seen any "birds" there in a long time though, but there is an emu/ostrich ranch just a few miles away on the state line at Oakridge/Patrick. The bridge was real close to that too.
What year did you move away?

Hi Sara

I hope you are still getting better.

Kinda funny you should mention snow tires as I just got back in from a little ride on my old beat up DR650! The roads are mostly clear down here now but on Monday I was thinking that I really should mount some studded tires on one of the bikes each fall so it would be ready for days like that.

This is what my street looked like on Monday about noon...before the snow changed over to freezing rain.




I was glad that I had parked my old truck down by the street the night before as my driveway would have been a bit dicey!




My street is almost clear now.....




.....but I did run up on a few slick spots!

(p.s. icing is when the puck goes all the way down the ice without being touched)

It was nice to get out on a bike again...yep, even just a couple of weeks off is enough to get me stir crazy.

Snow is kinda fun and brings out the kid in you for a couple of minutes.....but freezing rain and ice is just nasty!

This shiny glaze is a common sight in the area today.







Unfortunately a local trail has now been closed off by either the owners or the hunters that lease it.

I always had the sense to stay out of there during hunting season and it had remained unposted....but I guess by looking at the tracks going around the gate others may not have been so respectful. At any rate I'm not interested in trespassing and didn't go in there....







I found some roads to indeed still be very icy!!







But I had no trouble making fresh tracks through any of my neighbors yards.





I put a new roof on my house last month in hopes of avoiding having something like this happen.








Everyone likes to get out and enjoy a sunny day it seems.





This shot illustrates the difference in being tilted toward the South vs. the North.





I'm going to keep following iDave's advice and not put so many pics in a single post.....more to come.

Low lying creek beds were still pretty scenic today.....






....and their bridges had some fun slush to pull over in too.







Gotta keep showing you this ugly old bike to keep my moto-content up!

This is the creek that I regretted getting a pic of in our previous snow storm.











It's also the same one where I discovered the old abandoned steel bridge just parallel to it.






It seemed to be worth another look.


















Looks like it'd be a cold swim.














The worn Kendas actually did pretty well in the woods....thankfully.

I knew I could count on you!

I think I'm mending. This morning I dropped a shampoo bottle on my toes and it hurt! That is an improvement. I might be trading the Wee for an Adventure Burgman if I'm still gimpy in the spring.
