and I think that I seen something a little more your shade of Ernge in town yesterday anyway.

I was still out riding the pig when I took this phone pic so I guess it counts as ride report too, eh?

Other phone pics from yesterday's early evening ride to run a few errands and pick up my wife at work to take her to dinner include...

...a closed road.

....and an Elvis sighting!

Thanks, as I said before they're trying to make things right so keep your fingers crossed with me that the "new" shock is a good one.

I'm not sure about the house? When it was built, vacated, by whom and why......but while at the coffee shop I was chatting with Julie and one of the regulars who said that he thinks he knows who owns that land. He wasn't 100% sure it was the same mountaintop tree farm or not but a guy he knows inherited one in that area from a former employer (wasn't even related) But when the tax bill came it was a bit overwhelming so he did some kind of deal with a nature conservancy that exempted him from paying the taxes.

I don't really care too much for racking up a bunch of empty miles on a bike using it as a commuter.....but with the recent rise in gas prices and the fact that there's just a few street miles left in the tires on that old 50 mpg DR650...

I left a little early this afternoon and in honor of Shoganai's former Ride to Work thread I decided to snap a few shots today.

Unfortunately I only had my phone to use as a camera!

This farm has been sitting vacant for a couple of years now...I think it's now owned by the botanical gardens nearby.

Check out the date on that old gas lamp!

Just across the pasture....

Yep...same place as in my Saturday ride.....

Just another couple miles up the road is this shop that always has something cool on the lot.

Then I stopped to say hello to the " 'mater man"

That honey looks pretty good but I haven't tried it yet...he wants about $17 for a big jar I think...

All the textile jobs have gone out of the country in the past few years..

....not sure if this one is being demolished or renovated?

Just a block away where the old company owned "mill housing" once stood is now a townhouse community for desk jockeys in the nearby city.....

Another mill nearby was itself converted into condos a few years ago.

While across the street another mill is being torn down.

Not all of the old company housing has been demolished. About 20 years ago this neighborhood of mill houses was refurbished and sold to private owners.

Time to go to work.....yes I'm getting paid to post this.

What a beautiful place... hope someone does something with it other than let it rot or tear it down...

I rode through Inman and Chesnee on Saturday. Pink peach blossoms everywhere.

Remember in the beginning of this thread I posted another video of a guy that had seen 'ol knobby around South Mtn.

Yesterday my wife and I were talking about possibly riding to Lake Lure for lunch since she didn't have any commitments until late afternoon. But when she let the dogs out this morning into 30some degree weather the plans changed thankfully the chilly morning turned into a nice afternoon and we still went out for a little local lunch ride.

It's about time to mow the weeds in my front yard before they overtake the tulips! Those dogwoods just started to bloom this week, azaleas won't be far behind.

The greenery is still a little bit patchy but pollen/allergy season is in full swing!

Try, try again and again and again

No bigfoots were spotted on this ride.

That's just because the quads are racing today, isn't it?

It's been cold and rainy all day along the state line ...but it looks like it's been decent up there!

Had I known the rain was gonna stay down here I might have geared up this AM and ridden North!

The bikes don't run until tomorrow though and it may be a little messy by then...that's perfectly normal for the Steele Creek race. But I'll be back at work so no GNCC for me either.

I did get my all new replacement shock from Cogent this past week!

It feels good but yesterday's ride and one trip to work is all I've done with it. I'm hoping that the failure my rebuilt/modified shock suffered was just an anomaly and I'm keeping my fingers crossed this will all have been worth it.

I'm planning to go camping @ Willville next weekend with more RDV scouting along the way, I'll report back after that!
