The pics of the mill/pond are excellent. Remind me of the new england/vermont/maine area for whatever reason.

You know, all those tiny liberal communes should be a single state anyway- they were a single puzzle piece in EVERY one I did, so that should count

Thanks ....but I'd think you'd need some brighter colors if it were in NE...they've got some great fall foliage up there!

I showed a neighbor kid some back roads over to Lake Lure this afternoon and snapped a few pics along the way.....

Another bad on the fly shot of this place! Maybe someday I'll stop and try to frame one up in proper lighting.

I went on my usual 'shack attack'

He was riding a little R6 and I took 'the pig' out to stretch it's legs.

The weather couldn't have been any nicer...70f under sunny skies.

I promised him some twisty roads....right about here he's probably wondering wtf?

When we finally got there......where did he go?

The leaves were real pretty along the lake.

Since I was riding 'the pig' I was shooting for colors on the straights. ...rather than one handing the switchbacks!

He never did catch up to me.

He wasn't too far back though....but I had to stop to let him catch up.

A late start didn't give us much time to explore though, so I showed him around the lake and we hit the superslab back towards home.

We made it all the way to the Bat Cave before turning back.

Just a few more shots as we rolled back through town......

Chimney Rock

....and rolling back into the neighborhood right at sunset....or is that moonrise? :

It was fun to get the old school bike out for a run!

I went through Bat Cave at some point this summer; maybe on the way to spring OCR, can't really remember.

The fall colors are fantastic. All the leaves are off the trees here.

RR's like this and iDave's make me happy to ride without a camera. I might see some of these sights, but not likely I could capture them. Thanks again.

....and I don't remember having ever seen either Batman or Robin in that area!

Thanks...a lot of the leaves have come down now this past week due to rain and wind. Being a bit of a weather-bug, have you ever heard of the 'Isothermal Belt'?

Thank you....to be mentioned in the same sentence as Dave is truly an honor!

Thanks...I may try to get back over there tomorrow as it's one of the last places to lose it's fall colors, being that's it's in the Isothermal Belt and the twisty roads are fun.

It's already been three weeks since doing some fun dual sport riding up at Rick's cabin....but these past three Sundays have been fun too. The usual suspects joined me for the third week in a row to go for a little leaf peepin' day trippin' ride.

I told them how much nicer the colors were up at Lake Lure as compared to Love Valley so we decided to see if there were any pretty leaves left after the wind rain a few days ago.....

KM park was already looking kinda wintery though with just a splash left here and there....

It was a wintery grey sky today too....not good for on the fly pic takin'....but when has that ever stopped me?

Privacy fence.

We actually began to see more color as we approached the foothills around Lake Lure. It's that weird temp inversion thing called an isothermal belt.

The straight-aways became fewer too.

One last look back before I wave goodbye.

Just warming the tires up on some mild sweepers......

There's that ugly grey sky again.....winter will be here before we know it.

left, right, left, right, left....riding around here is like being in the Army!

I must say that last Monday's blue sky was nicer......but we're too old to not have good time anyway.

It's been so nice lately that hardly anybody has even winterized their boats it seems.

It looks like smugmug is acting wonky again.

....I'll try again later.....

edit...maybe ADV is just too busy right now I don't know.....but what's this "loading data from d26ya5yqg8yyvs.cloudfront.net" all about?

It's super slow to load a page and that displays on the bottom....then when it finishes loading pics are missing.
