Here's a screenshot of the difference that I was seeing in the resolution of the sky.
I heard back from smugmug and they think it was just my browser that had a 'bad cache' of the image, from a slow or incomplete download I suppose?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I don't see what is shown in your screenshot for the SmugMug version. I'm looking at the photo on Photobucket and on SmugMug and I don't see any noticeable difference in the sky not even by bumping up my screen's brightness way over normal.

The color correct setting has no bearing on how photos are displayed in a gallery - it's for prints done at the lab only.
I believe this was just a browser cache issue where a bad version had been cached in your browser cache and clearing the cache prompted your browser to download the photo again.

Note that the screenshot is just another JPG file that has been recompressed and that can introduce compression artifacts as well.

All the best,

Still playing the tag games?

....it's been a while since I've even had a look at any of 'em but it's about that time of year for me to play again....

So I took a look at a few of the local TAG games in the SE regional and discovered that the last three tags in the SC game were all within 1/2 hour ride of my house!

Not only that, the current one had been sitting for 3 weeks and was only about 6 miles from Brattonsville, where I was last weekend! ....and on the very same road as that place with the bazzilion lights, just 10 miles to the South.

I figured that as soon as I'd make a 'special' trip to get it I'd just get 'bruced' so I didn't bother to post from the road or anything..... But guess what?

Low and behold I was able to get the grab!

Yep...I was livin' in 'High Cotton'

Don't ask me why these fields haven't been harvested yet? I guess it's still a good crop though, it looked OK.

Where's the Wee-Strom?

There was a fun little two-track that weaved it's way through those fields and since it wasn't posted or gated...

I don't even know what we do with cotton now that all the textile mills have shut down....they must ship it overseas or South of the border?

Just needs a little TLC

Look close, between the truck and the house, there was a big Doby standing guard here!

The place across the street looked a little more loosely guarded.

....and it had probably been a little bit longer since this trucked had moved.

I really need to head south more often, I don't think I've ever seen a cotton field in "bloom"

embarrassing...

SC? sounds warm - to bad I'd have to go through the mountains to go south (and it's damn cold up here right now). on the other hand, I am on vacation...

Yeah the early morning departure and evening return to the hills may be a bit chilly! Cause it was even frosty here this morning!

Anyway I don't know for sure where I want to set the new tag but that cotton field itself won't be it so...here's where that was and what it looks like with just some type of grass/grain growing in it, just in case you get to feeling squirrely.

Your pictures never cease to amaze and you keep the pressure on to keep riding and seeing the world around you. Without that pressure one could save a lot of money on bikes and fuel and just look at your RR's.

Thanks!

...but I'm beginning to think that some may get the impression that the South is nothing but a bunch of old ruins if they were to depend on this thread for perspective!

One of these days I think that I'll just take pics of new houses that people actually live in!

That day wasn't today.

Yep, one of these days I'll have to try and cross over to the 'good' side of the tracks.

....one of these days......

There are actually some twisties in the SC midlands. Some, being the key word.

National Forests too.

Same river, different spillway as the b/w 99 Island pics 3 weeks ago.

What else do you find when you find a National Forest?

Forest Roads!!

Heading back towards my house just checking to see if I might be able to improve on my living situation.
